Full Job Description

Summary/Objective

The Billing Representative is responsible for the company’s billing claims and appeals and denials.

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Understand and abide by all coding and billing compliance regulations, as well as government regulations.
Send supporting documentation to insurance companies when necessary.
Appeal denied claims when appropriate.
Checks for payer or insurance inquiries in Athena’s workflow dashboard and corrects if needed.
Acts as a liaison and assists patients with any insurance questions.
Upload EOBs to Athena.
Work all claim worklists for providers.
Completes insurance refund requests.
Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.

3. Computer proficiency

5. Work under pressure with a positive attitude
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax
machines.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the physical activity is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this
position. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a. m. to 5 p.m., Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Education and Experience

1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. Associates degree preferred in related field
