Up to 19.5 hours per week based on classes, availability and department needs within the following business hours:
Academic Year: Monday - Thursday, 9am - 3pm

Job Summary

As the first point of contact for visitors to the department, this position requires a welcoming demeanor and a neat, clean, and workplace-appropriate appearance. You will interact with students, staff and faculty, public safety professionals, and other general public in person, over the phone, and through email. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, answering telephones and accurately routing calls, filing, using computer, data entry, and performing miscellaneous office duties. Assisting with campus-wide tasks, including delivering and retrieving materials as needed.

Essential Functions

25% – Customer Service: Promptly greet and welcome visitors to the department. Provide a friendly, helpful demeanor and maintain a neat, clean, and workplace-appropriate appearance.

25% – Office Skills: Perform typing, data entry, electronic and physical filing, operation of office equipment, and other general office duties.

20% – Technical Proficiency: Use Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications and navigate between various computer programs and systems.

20% – Telephone: Operate a multi-line telephone system; answer incoming calls, provide general information, and accurately route calls as needed.

10% – Department Support: Deliver and retrieve supplies and materials weighing up to 10 pounds throughout campus. Perform other duties that support department operations and are within the scope of the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have submitted a FAFSA for the academic year and been approved for the Federal Work Study program.

Experience with the following is required:

Providing friendly, professional, and courteous customer service.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills and the ability to learn and navigate multiple computer programs and systems.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications.
Performing basic office tasks, including typing, data entry, filing, and operating standard office equipment.
Ability to accurately take and relay information and appropriately route telephone calls.
Must maintain a neat, clean, and workplace-appropriate appearance.
Follow instructions, work cooperatively with others, and provide general support to department operations.
