Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Optometrist to join our team on a military base located in. This position offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive eye care services within a dynamic and disciplined environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough eye examinations, diagnosing ocular conditions, and delivering exceptional patient care to military personnel and their families. This role requires a professional committed to advancing vision health through precise assessments, effective treatment plans, and compassionate communication. The position is fully paid and includes opportunities for professional growth within a structured healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed ophthalmic examinations, including visual acuity testing, tonometry, and assessment of ocular health using ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment.
Diagnose and manage a wide range of eye conditions, including refractive errors, ocular diseases, and injury-related issues.
Conduct contact lens fittings and provide patient education on lens care and maintenance.
Operate medical equipment accurately while adhering to aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
Maintain comprehensive medical records using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
Communicate effectively with patients of diverse backgrounds, explaining diagnoses, procedures, and treatment options clearly.
Manage disease states related to ophthalmology by monitoring progression and adjusting treatments accordingly.
Assist in the training of staff on ophthalmic diagnosis techniques and the operation of specialized medical equipment.
Ensure accurate coding of medical procedures for billing purposes using medical coding standards.

Requirements

Valid state licensure as an Optometrist with certification in ophthalmology or optometry.
Proven experience in ophthalmic diagnosis, optical experience, and patient care within clinical settings.
Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and disease management related to eye health.
Proficiency in operating ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment, tonometry devices, and other medical instruments.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and medical records management compliant with HIPAA standards.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about their eye health.
Knowledge of contact lens fitting procedures and optical product recommendations.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Commitment to maintaining aseptic techniques and adhering to safety protocols during examinations.
