Full Job Description

Our client, a well-established and growing organization, is seeking a Category Manager to support its Direct Procurement team on a contract basis. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and analytical professional with experience in strategic sourcing and supplier management who is looking to make an immediate impact within a collaborative environment. This is an individual contributor role (no direct reports).

This position is based in Alpharetta, GA with a hybrid work schedule (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).

Responsibilities:

Support strategic sourcing initiatives across assigned categories, including spend analysis, RFx processes, supplier selection, and contract negotiations
Partner with Procurement leadership to develop and execute category strategies that drive cost savings and operational efficiencies
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and cross-functional teams
Analyze supplier performance and lead Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) activities to ensure service quality and value delivery
Evaluate market trends and supply dynamics to inform sourcing decisions and optimize category performance
Assist in negotiating pricing, terms, and service agreements with suppliers
Contribute to annual planning by developing category forecasts, including spend and rebate projections
Support continuous improvement of procurement processes, policies, and supplier partnerships
Participate in cross-functional initiatives aimed at enhancing overall supply chain performance

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience in direct procurement, category management, and strategic sourcing
Strong understanding of RFx processes, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiations
Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and drive performance improvements
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of an organization
Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Experience with Power BI or similar reporting/analytics tools is a plus
Familiarity with procurement systems and contract management processes preferred
