Full Job Description

DeKalb Optometric is a locally owned, multi-doctor optometry practice that has served the DeKalb community for over 70 years. We are looking for a dependable, self-directed team member who takes pride in their work and wants to become a long-term part of our practice.

Optical experience is especially welcome. We are interested in experienced opticians as well as strong candidates who are interested in learning multiple areas of an optometry practice.

About the Position

This is a hands-on, patient-facing position with opportunities to work in several areas of the practice. Depending on your experience, strengths, and practice needs, responsibilities may include:

Assisting patients with frame selection and eyewear
Optical sales, adjustments, and dispensing
Front desk and patient check-in/check-out
Scheduling and patient communication
Clinical support and preliminary testing
Insurance and administrative responsibilities
Cross-training and assisting throughout the practice

Previous optician, optical, optometry, or healthcare experience is a plus, but not required. We can teach skills and processes. We are looking for someone who already brings reliability, integrity, initiative, and pride in their work.

Schedule & Reliability

Consistent attendance is an essential part of this position. Our patients and team depend on each person being present and ready to contribute.

Employees typically work 5 days per week
Saturday availability is required
Some weeks may include up to 6 working days, based on patient and scheduling needs
Staff shifts may extend beyond patient hours for opening and closing responsibilities
