CNC Machinist / Setup Operator – Aerospace Manufacturing

Location: North Hollywood, CA

We are an AS9100-certified aerospace machine shop specializing in precision prototype and production machining. Our work supports leading aerospace customers, requiring tight tolerances, efficient setups, and skilled operators who can adapt to a variety of jobs.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist / Setup Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Fanuc controls, be proficient in Mastercam, and be comfortable setting up and operating both large and small CNC mills (and one CNC lathe). This role involves working on prototype and low-volume aerospace parts, editing programs at the machine control, and holding tight tolerances per aerospace standards.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC vertical and horizontal milling machines (and occasional lathe work).
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
Load, set, and adjust tooling, fixtures, and work offsets.
Edit and prove out programs at the machine control when necessary.
Work with Mastercam-generated programs and verify toolpaths.
Perform first article inspections and in-process checks using precision measuring tools (micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, height gauges, etc.).
Hold tight aerospace tolerances (±.0005" typical, occasionally tighter).
Machine prototype parts, one-offs, and short production runs efficiently.
Maintain equipment, tooling, and work area in good condition.
Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and quality personnel to ensure parts meet customer requirements.

Requirements

5+ years CNC machining experience (aerospace preferred).
Strong background in CNC mill setup and operation; some CNC lathe experience is a plus.
Proficiency with Fanuc controls and ability to edit G-code at the machine.
Experience with Mastercam for reading and running programs.
Skilled at reading complex aerospace blueprints and GD&T requirements.
Experience with prototype and short-run jobs.
Ability to set up jobs independently from start to finish.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace quality standards preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
