Location: The Abell Teen Center at the Boys & Girls Club of the Plateau, 558 Frank Allen Road, Cashiers, NC 28717
Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Weekly Hours: 25 - 29 hours/week 12:15pm - 6:00 pm, Monday - Friday
THE MISSION OF BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF THE PLATEAU is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The Able Teen Center, a branch of the Boys & Girls Club of the Plateau, provides positive opportunities for our community’s teens (13 and up) to learn, succeed, and discover in a safe and supportive environment.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Teen Club Director, the Workforce Development Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight of all career-oriented programming, including but not limited to our Workforce Readiness program (WFR), coordinating and facilitating career exposure activities, providing career guidance for teens through assessments and evaluations, and collaborating with local businesses, non-profits, and colleges/universities to enhance the WFR program.
The Workforce Development Coordinator is responsible for ensuring youth development principles are incorporated into programs and activities; providing guidance and discipline to ensure a safe and positive environment for teens; ensuring the incorporation of character development, age-appropriate programs, and activities; ensuring that culturally diverse programs are implemented; assisting in the planning, implementation, and delivery of exciting and engaging activities and programs for teens. This position will support the overall Teen programs when no WFR session is taking place.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and manage structured workforce readiness programs, including workshops, field trips, and exploration and empowerment programs for young people
- Develop and implement strategic collaborations with businesses, colleges/universities, and other nonprofit organizations
- Create and modify curriculum based on established learning goals and teen voice surveys
- Collect and update program info and data necessary for program evaluation and grant fulfillment
- Perform other tasks that support the overall functioning of the organization; this includes ensuring proper staff-to-member ratio
- Responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all members; supervising members to ensure that programs adhere to Club philosophy and run effectively
- Track program attendance and impact/outcomes
- Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in the organization’s and elsewhere.
- Adhere to Boys & Girls Club philosophy
- Other duties as assigned
- Will conduct roles of site supervisor and remain compliant with USDA Rights Guidelines regarding snack delivery pertaining to Summer Food Service Program
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years of experience working with teens in a youth development setting.
- Ability to work effectively with community partners to support the teen program.
- Knowledge of teen and youth development principles and developmental characteristics.
- Graduated or enrolled in a secondary degree program in one of the following or similar fields: Psychology, Sociology, Parks and Recreation Management, or Education.
- Ability to plan, organize, and manage complex initiatives.
- Data analysis and record-keeping, including experience with Excel and Google Sheets.
- Effective communication skills with youth and adults.
- Ability to de-escalate crisis situations effectively.
- Ability to be CPR and First Aid certified.
- Ability to drive Club vehicles.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be in moderate physical shape (able to stand for long periods of time, walk, and occasionally run without tiring). May be required to lift up to 55 lbs. May be outside in all kinds of weather.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
