Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sushi Chef to join our vibrant culinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing authentic sushi and Japanese Maki that delight our guests and uphold the highest standards of food quality and safety. Your expertise in fine dining and food presentation will help create an exceptional dining experience. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, and possesses a deep understanding of sushi preparation techniques, food safety procedures, and kitchen operations. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary artistry in a dynamic restaurant environment.

Duties

Prepare a variety of rolls, sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and artistry, adhering to established recipes and presentation standards
Operate kitchen equipment such as sushi knives, rice cookers, refrigeration units, and other specialized tools efficiently and safely
Maintain strict food safety sanitizing procedures to ensure a clean and hygienic workspace at all times
Assist in menu planning by suggesting new sushi rolls or seasonal offerings that align with customer preferences and culinary trends
Manage high-volume food production during peak hours while maintaining quality and consistency
Practice proper food handling techniques, including poaching, braising, grilling, and food preparation methods relevant to sushi ingredients
Collaborate with team members to ensure timely meal service and exceptional guest satisfaction

Experience

Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within a fine dining or high-volume restaurant setting
Demonstrated knowledge of food safety management practices and sanitizing procedures in a professional kitchen environment
Strong knife skills with the ability to prepare fish, vegetables, and other ingredients efficiently
Experience with menu planning, recipe adherence, and food production processes in the food industry
Background in dietary department or catering environments is a plus but not required
Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and effectively in fast-paced settings
Previous experience working in restaurant environments that emphasize high-quality food handling, cooking techniques such as braising or poaching, and food safety standards
