Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Program Facilitator plays a key role in delivering high-quality, age-appropriate Scouting America programs to youth across the council’s service area. This position supports school and community-based youth programs by facilitating activities, assisting units, coordinating events, and ensuring safe, consistent program experiences aligned with Scouting America standards. The Program Facilitator represents the council in schools, community centers, camps, and partner organizations.

Key Responsibilities Program Delivery & Facilitation

Lead engaging, hands-on Scouting activities for youth in schools, afterschool programs, camps, and community settings.
Deliver curriculum-based content such as STEM activities, outdoor skills, character-building lessons, and team-building exercises.
Support badge advancement requirements and ensure accurate documentation of participants’ progress.

Unit & Volunteer Support

Assist parent volunteers with program planning, activity preparation, and youth engagement strategies.
Provide simple training, guidance, and resources to volunteers and teachers to support Scouting programs.
Help establish and support new units in schools, community centers, places of worship, and partner organizations.

Program Coordination & Logistics

Prepare and transport program supplies, curriculum kits, and activity materials.
Maintain equipment, track supply inventory, and ensure program spaces are safe and organized.
Assist with coordination and staffing of events such as day camps, derbies, camporees, youth recruitments, and council-wide programs.

Youth Recruitment & Engagement

Support membership recruitment efforts through in-school presentations, community events, and parent outreach.
Encourage continued participation, promote upcoming events, and serve as a positive ambassador for Scouting America.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure all youth protection, safeguarding, and program standards are strictly followed.
Maintain accurate attendance, program records, and reporting as required by the council.
Participate in required training and certifications (e.g., Safeguarding Youth, First Aid/CPR as applicable).

Qualifications

Minimum Age of 21.
Experience working with youth in educational, recreational, or community environments.
Ability to lead games, lessons, and hands-on activities in a fun and engaging way.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable speaking to groups.
Reliable transportation and the ability to travel within the council area.
Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
Must be willing to uphold the mission and values of Scouting America.
Must pass required background checks and youth protection standards.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Scouting (youth or adult) is helpful but not required.
Experience in teaching, camp staff, youth development, recreation, or afterschool programming.
Bilingual (especially Spanish) is a plus.
Ability to lead outdoor skills, STEM activities, or arts and crafts.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. of program supplies.
Ability to stand, walk, or actively facilitate youth activities for extended periods.
Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 6.0 – 18.0 per week
