The Computing Disciplines of the Computing & Applied Technology Department at Onondaga Community College are accepting applications for adjunct instructors to teach computing courses (Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, & Cybersecurity). The highest need areas will require the adjunct to teach programming courses, data structures, and how those are utilized in modern software engineering. Additional areas of need include teaching courses for our Cybersecurity program, Information Systems/Information Technology and web technologies. While the highest need is for in-person, daytime instruction, applicants for teaching at night and/or online will also be considered.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach between 3 to 11 contact hours per term in college-level teaching of computing courses or cybersecurity courses to include:
Be responsive to student questions (e.g. email or voice mail) as needed, in a reasonably timely manner, and be available for student support.
Use appropriate technology to enhance learning.
Participate in assessment of learning outcomes.
Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
Be innovative in the presentation of lectures and hands-on learning activities that achieve learning outcomes.
Provide timely feedback on students' assignments and exams throughout each semester; and,
Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College, including timely submission of grades and other required materials.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college, university or foreign equivalency in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.
OR
Master's degree from a regionally accredited college, university or foreign equivalency in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.
OR
Industry-recognized professional license or certification; with a minimum of 3 years of full-time employment in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
OR
Doctorate from a regionally accredited college, university or foreign equivalency in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Industry-recognized certifications
Background in teaching college level courses in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.
Demonstrated connections with local industry in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.
Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages will be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio)
Familiar with some or all of the following technologies:
Programming Languages - Assembly, C, C++, Java, and Python
Web Languages - HTML and PHP
Database Platforms - Access and MySQL
Networking
Network Security
Operating Systems - Windows and Linux
Additional Information:
Adjunct rate of pay for the 26/27 academic year is $1,527/credit hour. Classes will be assigned on an as needed basis dependent upon enrollment.
Adjuncts are eligible to participate in the NYS Teacher's Retirement System.
