About Us:

We are a privately owned dermatology practice in Syracuse providing medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatologic care. Our practice is growing, and we are looking for a bright, reliable, and motivated Clinical Assistant / Medical Assistant to join our team.

Prior medical office experience or Medical Assistant certification is helpful, but not required. We are willing to train the right person. The most important qualities for this position are reliability, professionalism, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a genuine interest in providing excellent patient care.

This is a good opportunity for someone who wants to build a stable role in a busy, patient-centered medical practice and become a dependable part of our clinical team.

Position Summary:

The Clinical Assistant / Medical Assistant works closely with our dermatology providers to support patient care, document visits, assist with procedures, and help keep the clinical schedule running smoothly.

This is a fast-paced role that requires strong listening skills, accurate documentation, comfort using computers and an iPad, and the ability to stay organized while working closely with both patients and providers.

Responsibilities:

Prepare exam rooms for patient visits.
Room patients and prepare them for dermatology examinations and procedures.
Accompany the provider during patient visits.
Accurately scribe patient histories, examinations, assessments, procedures, and treatment plans.
Assist providers during medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology visits.
Help provide patients with instructions and information related to their care.
Assist with patient phone calls and follow-up tasks as directed by providers.
Perform tasks that improve provider efficiency and patient flow.
Help maintain clean, stocked, and organized clinical areas.
Assist with other clinical and administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Certified Medical Assistant or Certified Clinical Medical Assistants are welcome to apply, but certification but not required.
Prior scribe, dermatology, or medical office experience preferred, but not required.
Strong computer skills required; comfort using an iPad is helpful.
Ability to type at least 45 words per minute preferred.
Must be punctual, reliable, and able to maintain consistent attendance.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including grammar and spelling.
Excellent listening and note-taking skills.
Detail-oriented, with the ability to work accurately in a busy clinical setting.
Strong time management skills and ability to work independently.
Professional, respectful manner with patients, providers, and coworkers.
Willingness to learn dermatology-specific clinical skills and office workflows.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements.

Training:

We provide on-the-job training for our practice workflows, dermatology procedures, documentation standards, and clinical support responsibilities.

Candidates who are not certified medical assistants may be required to complete dermatology technician training after gaining experience in the role.

Pay:

$18.00–$21.00 per hour. Wage is negotiable depending on experience.

Background check:

Employment is contingent upon verification of qualifications and completion of any required pre-employment checks consistent with applicable law. All candidates are considered based on qualifications, reliability, professionalism, patient-safety requirements, and ability to perform the essential functions of the role.
