As a Tax/Senior Manager, you will play a key leadership role in managing client relationships, overseeing complex tax engagements, and mentoring staff — all while helping shape the continued growth and success of our firm.
This position is a hybrid position located in Syracuse, NY.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a front-line client advisor, developing strong, lasting relationships with clients and ensuring the highest quality in service delivery and compliance.
- Lead complex tax planning and strategy engagements, offering innovative and practical solutions to minimize tax liabilities and achieve client goals.
- Review and evaluate tax research, methodology, and conclusions to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Represent clients during IRS audits, administrative hearings, and other regulatory interactions.
- Collaborate with Partners on practice development, management, and strategic initiatives to support firm growth.
- Represent the firm within professional and community organizations, strengthening our presence and reputation.
- Oversee Tax Department scheduling and workload management to ensure efficient operations.
- Mentor and develop Tax Staff, In-Charges, and Supervisors, fostering a culture of learning, accountability, and professional advancement.
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of progressive tax experience, 7 years or more for Senior Tax Manager, preferably in a public accounting firm.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s in Taxation preferred).
- Active CPA license required.
- Demonstrated commitment to exceptional client service and professional integrity.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive, strategic mindset.
