Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Commercial Leasing Underwriter to support commercial lending activities in Tacoma, Washington. This role focuses on evaluating complex credit requests tied to commercial real estate, equipment finance, leasing, and business lending while producing clear, well-supported recommendations. The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, deep commercial credit expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively with lending partners to manage risk and support sound portfolio decisions. Responsibilities:

Evaluate commercial loan requests by reviewing financial statements, industry conditions, borrower performance, and other relevant credit information to determine overall credit quality.
Assess repayment capacity and identify business, collateral, market, and financial risks that could affect a borrower’s ability to meet obligations.
Develop thorough credit recommendations that are accurate, well-documented, and completed within expected timeframes with minimal need for revision.
Apply risk rating methodologies consistently, including both quantitative and qualitative factors, to support accurate grading of borrowers and credit facilities.
Review loan structures, policy exceptions, guideline variances, compliance considerations, and coding details to ensure transactions are properly documented and aligned with bank standards.
Monitor ongoing borrower financial performance, including covenant compliance and reporting requirements, and coordinate timely follow-up when issues or violations arise.
Prepare or validate financial statement spreads and covenant calculations to confirm completeness, accuracy, and adherence to approval terms and loan documentation.
Work closely with relationship teams and other partners to identify client financing needs, contribute to customer discussions, and provide insight on structure options that balance growth and risk.
Support quality control and team development efforts by reviewing underwriting work prepared by peers or analysts, documenting findings, and offering guidance to strengthen report quality.
Use relevant underwriting and relationship management platforms, such as Moody’s Risk Analyst and Salesforce, to support credit analysis and workflow management.

The salary range for this position is $95k to $140k w/ a bonus. Benefits available with this position include medical, dental and vision; life and disability insurances; participation in the company’s 401(k) plan with a match and 15 days of paid vacation, 5 days of paid sick leave and 10 paid holidays per calendar year.

Bachelor’s degree required.
7-10 years of commercial credit underwriting experience in a lending and leasing environment required.
Strong background in commercial underwriting with demonstrated understanding of how it differs from residential credit analysis.
Experience analyzing commercial real estate, equipment finance, lease transactions, and business lending relationships.
Advanced ability to interpret financial statements, assess credit risk, and form balanced, evidence-based recommendations.
Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment when evaluating complex borrower situations.
Certified Lease & Finance certification preferred.
Familiarity with tools such as Moody’s Risk Analyst and Salesforce is helpful.
