"FSM" (FSM Controls, LLC) is a growing 30+ person firm with a 15-year operating history. FSM is a technology-driven firm that makes facilities work better for our clients' unique operations while minimizing their operating costs. Our primary service divisions include: Building Controls/Automation, HVAC, Electrical, and Energy Services. Based in Tallahassee, FL, our projects are typically based in 15-20 States per year with over 50% of our business being outside of Florida. JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Controller with QuickBooks experience and high-attention-to-detail to manage company and job-level financials. At FSM, we believe life is too short not to enjoy our work and one another. Though this job can have some remote flexibility, the majority of your time be on site to ensure bookkeeping accuracy and effective chemistry and communications with the team. You will work closely with the executive team and our Project Managers. The compensation package includes a 55,000-$65,000 base salary, 100% employee health coverage, IRA matching, and performance-based bonus eligibility.

You must have experience managing a multi-million dollar budget. This is not a position for an “Administrative Assistant". This position is empowered and accountable to directly execute and lead all day-to-day facets of our company and job-level accounting. We have put considerable energy into building our “A-team” and this position is a key hire; it is crucial that we get this right! Our process might take a little longer…but it’s worth it. RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts Receivable

Assist project managers in determining when and how much to invoice on projects
Prepare invoices as necessary and follow up to ensure timely customer payments
Make all bank deposits and properly account for them

Payroll

Set up all new employees
Maintain regular contact with payroll service to notify of any changes/additions
Manage Employee Retirement plan including bi-monthly contributions

General Ledger

Bank and credit card reconciliations
Properly code all transactions
Prepare any necessary monthly journal entries
Maintain and monitor financial records including monthly closeout to Trial Balance

Additional

Provide financial reports to assist project managers, administrative and executive staff
Prepare and gather necessary information for insurance audits
1099s and Tax Reporting support to our Accountant
Identify and communicate any foreseeable cash flow issues, budgeting concerns or areas of opportunity
Employee Expense Reporting Management
Establish and manage standardized procedures and file structures
Other responsibilities as assigned

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A high attention to detail and quality control with effective leadership in the role.
3+ years of hands-on experience in bookkeeping and/or accounting related role
2+ years experience with Quickbooks and/or other related accounting software
Strong verbal and written communication skills including documentation and reporting
Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
Proficient in creating and/or managing standardized documents/templates
Ability to work independently, establish and meet project goals and schedules
Experience Construction and/or Contracting industry a plus
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, and/or Math Science a plus

PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES

Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and Word
Willingness to become proficient in SimPro (our integrated project management software)
Attention to detail and strong organization skills
Ability to multi-task and meet regular deadlines
Effective communication and follow-up skills for both internal communications and customer/vendor support
