Full Job Description

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:

Minimum of one (1) year of front-of-house experience in a full-service restaurant
Prior restaurant supervisory or management experience strongly preferred
Experience working in a high-volume service environment
Strong understanding of full-service restaurant operations and hospitality standards
Strong guest service and conflict-resolution skills
Ability to lead a team and remain calm under pressure
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as business demands require

Position Summary

The FOH Floor Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day front-of-house service and ensuring The Monroe's hospitality and operational standards are consistently executed.

This is a hands-on management position. The Floor Manager is expected to maintain a strong presence on the floor, lead the FOH team during service, manage guest flow, resolve issues in real time, and ensure the dining room operates efficiently from opening through closing.

The FOH Floor Manager reports directly to the Director of Hospitality and works closely with the Executive Chef, bar leadership, Server Leads, and other members of the restaurant leadership team.

This is a results-driven position for someone who leads by example, takes ownership of the shift, and understands that great hospitality requires both exceptional guest service and strong operational execution.

Core Responsibilities

Floor & Service Management

Lead front-of-house operations during assigned shifts
Maintain a visible and active management presence throughout service
Direct servers, hosts, backwaits, runners, expos, and other FOH team members
Monitor the dining room and identify service issues before they impact the guest
Ensure service standards, steps of service, and company expectations are consistently followed
Make real-time operational decisions to maintain smooth and efficient service

Guest Experience

Ensure guests receive professional, attentive, and consistent hospitality
Handle guest concerns and service recovery promptly and professionally
Monitor guest feedback and communicate recurring issues to leadership
Support the team in creating memorable guest experiences
Build relationships with regular guests and recognize opportunities to strengthen guest loyalty

Reservations & Guest Flow

Manage reservations, seating, wait times, and overall guest flow during service
Work closely with the host team to maintain proper seating pace
Monitor table turns and dining room capacity
Coordinate with kitchen and bar leadership to prevent unnecessary operational bottlenecks
Adjust service strategy based on volume and business conditions

Team Leadership

Lead pre-shift meetings and communicate daily priorities
Coach employees during service and provide immediate feedback when necessary
Reinforce professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and hospitality standards
Support FOH training, onboarding, and employee development
Identify strong performers and help develop future FOH leaders
Communicate employee performance or behavioral concerns to the Director of Hospitality

Operational Standards

Ensure opening, closing, side-work, and cleaning responsibilities are completed properly
Maintain dining room, server stations, host areas, and other guest-facing spaces to company standards
Monitor employee appearance, uniforms, conduct, and professionalism
Ensure restaurant policies and procedures are consistently followed
Maintain proper communication between the FOH, kitchen, and bar throughout service

Staffing & Labor

Monitor staffing levels throughout each shift
Make real-time staffing adjustments based on business volume
Ensure employees are positioned effectively to support service demands
Assist the Director of Hospitality with staffing, training, and operational needs as requested

Interdepartmental Coordination

Work closely with the Executive Chef and kitchen leadership during service
Coordinate with bar leadership to maintain efficient beverage service
Support private events, large reservations, and special restaurant programming
Maintain clear communication between all departments to ensure seamless execution
