Job Title: Pastry Chef

Overview:
Killearn Club is seeking a dynamic Pastry Chef to join our culinary team and create exceptional scratch-made pastries, desserts, breads, pizza dough, and other baked goods across the Club's food and beverage operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in both sweet and savory pastry techniques, scratch baking, and dough production while maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, creativity, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Working closely with the Executive Chef and culinary team, the Pastry Chef will develop and produce desserts and baked goods for all à la carte outlets as well as banquet and special event functions. This role also supports menu development, daily production, and efficient kitchen operations while helping deliver outstanding dining experiences for members and guests.
Killearn Club features three unique food and beverage outlets supported by two kitchens, making this an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing club committed to culinary excellence, innovation, and exceptional hospitality.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Prepare scratch-made desserts, pastries, breads, pizza dough, and other baked goods for à la carte dining, banquets, private events, and Club functions.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop seasonal dessert menus, specialty pastries, and new recipes that support the Club's culinary vision.
- Produce specialty cakes, homemade ice creams, sorbets, and decorative chocolate and sugar showpieces for weddings, celebrations, and special events.
- Support food preparation and execution for daily dining service, tournaments, social events, and private functions as needed.
- Maintain standardized recipes and ensure consistency in product quality, preparation, and presentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary pastry station while ensuring compliance with all food safety and sanitation standards.
- Assist with inventory management, product ordering, cost control initiatives, and waste reduction efforts.
- Teach, train, mentor, and develop cooks, interns, and culinary staff in pastry techniques, baking, and production.
- Work collaboratively with the culinary team to support efficient kitchen operations and overall member satisfaction.
- Maintain professionalism and composure in a fast-paced kitchen while upholding the Club's standards of excellence and hospitality.
- Conduct cooking and baking classes for members as directed by the Executive Chef.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Chef or Club leadership.
Required Key Skills and Qualifications:
To thrive in this position, essential skills and qualifications include:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Formal pastry education preferred, including a degree in Pastry Arts, associate degree, ACF certification, apprenticeship, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of Pastry Chef experience in a high-volume à la carte and banquet environment.
- Strong knowledge of scratch baking, artisan breads, pizza dough production, plated desserts, and pastry techniques.
- ServSafe Certification required or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, creativity, and professional development.
- Passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional dining experiences for members and guests.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and Sundays.
- Successful completion of a background check required.
