Job Summary

Senior Companion Program Volunteer Coordinator Job Posting

For over 51 years, Elder Care Services has been fulfilling our mission to improve the quality of life for seniors and their caregivers in the Big Bend. Elder Care Services currently serves as the Lead Non-Profit Agency for in-home services in Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla Counties.

Our comprehensive services provide community based, compassionate care for a broad spectrum of seniors. For active seniors, we provide an avenue to stay engaged in the community through volunteering placement. For families beginning the aging process, we are an advocate and trusted resource. For frail and homebound seniors, we continue to provide a variety of services that promote independence and safety while individuals age in place.

We are looking for an organized Senior Companion Volunteer Coordinator who enjoys working in a diverse team to join our Senior Volunteer Program department. As our Senior Companion Volunteer Coordinator, you will utilize strong problem solving, interpersonal, and documentation skills to ensure the highest quality of consumer services is provided to current and prospective Senior Companion Volunteers.

We will provide an hourly rate starting at$18 per hour and a full benefits package (see below for details). We are specifically looking for an individual who understands the importance of detailed documentation, who is able to follow through with instructions and deadlines, and who is able to effectively communicate and engage with senior volunteers and address the unique needs that each may present. This is not a remote position.

Duties

Selects volunteers as needed for the Senior Companion Program (SCP);
Plans and conducts monthly in-person trainings for volunteers to ensure that program protocols are followed as well as to promote health and wellness topics that are most appropriate for seniors;
Consistently documents all engagements with volunteers and stations in both hard copy charts and electronic database;
Participates in all volunteer training activities as it relates to SCP;
Staffs recruitment outreach activities, including weekend and evening engagements;
Provides ongoing support to volunteers and stations as needed to identify and address barriers to service particularly when their health or safety is compromised;
Serves as a liaison between volunteer stations and their assigned volunteers to ensure that assignment plans are followed or revised as needed;
Provides information, referrals and direct assistance to volunteers in accessing community services/resources;
Develops and maintains effective relationships with volunteer stations to include planned visits, trainings, and ongoing communication to ensure that protocols pertaining to volunteers are followed;
Assists Director with updating MOU’s and maintains current knowledge of status for both volunteers and volunteer stations;
Attends and participates in Advisory Council meetings;
Assists Advisory Council and Director with planning and implementing the Annual Volunteer Recognition.
Attends conferences, meetings, staff trainings, and any other activities related to the position, including those sponsored by AmeriCorps Seniors.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Volunteers or the President & CEO.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience in the field of aging, volunteerism, or social services.
Computer data entry and public speaking skills.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Good written communication skills.
Ready access to personal transportation.
Experience with federal grants preferred.
Ability to work as a team member.
Full wrist dexterity at a repetitive motion.
Ability to bend, stoop, and lift up to 25 pounds.
