Florida Housing Finance Corporation is recruiting for an Azure SQL Infrastructure Developer to join our team. You will play a key role in the development and modernization of our SQL data platforms, data architecture, ETL/ELT pipeline design, and reporting infrastructure, operating within a modern, security-first Azure environment and CI/CD pipeline. In this role, you will design relational schemas for greenfield applications, build data pipelines to feed operational systems and our emerging data warehouse, implement audit trails and data quality frameworks, and partner with business stakeholders to understand complex operational requirements. You'll work closely with infrastructure peers on cloud networking and automation while collaborating with .NET development teams on schema optimization and deployment strategies. This is a hands-on, end-to-end role that will require you to move fluidly between strategic data design, SQL query optimization, and operational automation.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
-
Must be willing to work in an open office environment
-
Degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent professional experience
-
3+ years of professional experience in SQL, database engineering, data architecture, or closely related fields
-
2+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent communication and documentation abilities
-
Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical data models
Core Technical Requirements
SQL & Data Architecture:
-
Advanced T-SQL expertise: complex queries, stored procedures, CTEs, window functions, and execution plan analysis
-
Relational database design: entity-relationship modeling, normalization, and schema design for greenfield applications
-
Experience with enterprise relational database management systems, cloud-hosted databases, and modern data warehousing principles
-
Strong indexing and query optimization skills—ability to analyze execution plans and design efficient, performant schemas
-
Understanding of advanced data modeling patterns: slowly changing dimensions, fact/dimension schemas, and temporal tables
-
Experience implementing audit and compliance frameworks for regulated, auditable data systems
-
Hands-on ETL/ELT process design: data ingestion, transformation, loading automation, and pipeline development across multiple data sources
-
Hands-on experience with enterprise reporting platforms: report design, deployment, and administration; ability to design reports that translate complex data into actionable business insights
Cloud & Automation:
-
Practical experience with Azure resources: storage, networking, compute, and managed services
-
Familiarity with modern CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles, and cloud automation frameworks, including automated deployment of database schema and data pipeline changes
-
Ability to read, understand, and contribute to infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Bicep, ARM templates, Terraform, or similar)
-
Familiarity with Azure Key Vault, managed identities, and secrets management
-
Advanced PowerShell skills for Azure and SQL automation, specifically Azure PowerShell modules (Az modules) for infrastructure scripting and configuration management
-
Comfort with Azure CLI for resource provisioning and troubleshooting
-
Proficiency with development tools: Visual Studio (database projects), SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), and VS Code
-
Basic bash/shell scripting experience
-
Basic familiarity with modern .NET / .NET Core application architecture and deployment patterns; ability to collaborate with .NET teams on Entity Framework mappings, schema design, LINQ query optimization, and project configurations
The ideal candidate will have strong skills, experience, and relevant expertise in:
-
Enterprise data warehouse design, implementation, and management
-
Advanced SQL techniques: Change Data Capture (CDC), temporal tables, columnstore indexes, windowing functions
-
Design patterns for data lakes and modern analytics platforms
-
Structured database schema migration and change-management workflows
-
Data quality and validation frameworks (built via T-SQL)
-
Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights for performance monitoring
-
Multi-environment deployments with environment parity and configuration management
-
Git workflows, branching strategies, and collaborative code review practices
-
Experience with legacy or enterprise ETL tooling (complementary to T-SQL-based pipeline design)
Preference will be given to applicants with:
-
Hands-on experience designing or operating data warehouses in production environments
-
End-to-end involvement in reporting pipeline development—from schema design through final report delivery
-
Experience working with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into data models
-
Exposure to audit and compliance requirements in data systems
-
Performance tuning expertise for complex analytical queries
-
Experience with modern CI/CD practices applied to database and data pipeline deployments
