We know how to make organic social media content go viral! We are hiring a full-time in-office Short-form 3D Animator to add to our highly skilled social media editing team.
Job Title: Short-form 3D Animator
We are looking for a highly creative 3D animator who can create short-form animated videos inspired by the high-energy, cinematic storytelling style popularized by channels such as Zack D Films. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Blender and understands how to create compelling 3D scenes, characters, animation, camera movement, lighting and visual effects. You will work from scripts and creative concepts and transform them into polished 15–60 second vertical videos for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube Shorts. This is a hands-on production role. You will be expected to take significant ownership of the visual execution—from developing the visual concept through final delivery.
What We’re Looking For:
3D Animation & Production
· Create high-quality 3D animated short-form videos using Blender.
· Translate scripts and creative concepts into compelling visual stories.
· Create or modify 3D characters, environments, props and other assets.
· Rig and animate characters and objects.
· Create dynamic camera movements, transitions and cinematic compositions.
· Develop realistic and stylized movement appropriate for short-form storytelling.
· Create compelling lighting, materials, textures and environments.
· Incorporate physics, particles, simulations and visual effects when appropriate.
· Optimize scenes and rendering workflows for rapid production.
· Deliver polished vertical videos optimized for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.
Short-Form Editing
· Edit rendered animation into fast-paced, engaging short-form content.
· Synchronize animation with narration, music, sound effects and dialogue.
· Use sound design to increase tension, humor, surprise and viewer retention.
· Create strong visual hooks within the first few seconds.
· Maintain fast pacing and frequent visual changes appropriate for social media.
· Add captions, graphics and other post-production elements when appropriate.
· Deliver final videos in platform-ready 9:16 formats.
Creative Development
· Collaborate with Executive Producers, writers, editors and other members of the JourneyViral production team.
· Help develop visual concepts from scripts.
· Recommend creative approaches that make stories more entertaining and visually compelling.
· Identify opportunities to make animations more surprising, humorous, dramatic or visually impressive.
· Study successful short-form content and continually improve the visual language of JourneyViral’s 3D channels.
· Develop reusable characters, environments, rigs, templates and production systems that increase output and consistency.
Production Efficiency
· Build a repeatable Blender workflow capable of producing multiple short-form videos every week.
· Organize project files, assets, textures, rigs and animation files professionally.
· Reuse and modify existing assets whenever appropriate to increase production speed.
· Develop templates and systems that allow the team to increase production volume without sacrificing quality.
· Work efficiently within established deadlines and production schedules.
Required Qualifications
· Demonstrated professional experience creating 3D animation.
· Strong proficiency in Blender.
· Strong understanding of character animation and the principles of animation.
· Experience with 3D modeling, texturing, lighting and rendering.
· Ability to create or modify rigs and animate characters.
· Strong understanding of cinematic camera composition and movement.
· Experience creating short-form video content for social media.
· Strong sense of pacing, storytelling and visual entertainment.
· Ability to work from a script and independently determine how to visualize it.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Ability to work quickly while maintaining a high visual standard.
· Strong portfolio demonstrating 3D animation work.
Summary
The successful candidate will not simply produce technically impressive animation. They will create 3D videos people want to watch until the end. A portfolio or reel is required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
