Job Summary

Full Circle Orthopedics is hiring an experienced Orthopedic Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. This is a part-time position with a predictable three-day schedule: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, approximately 24 hours per week.

If you enjoy hands-on patient care, like staying one step ahead of a busy clinic, and take pride in helping both patients and the physician have a better day, this could be a very good fit.

You will work directly with Dr. Robert Donnelly, an experienced board-certified orthopedic surgeon, and play an important role in keeping patients, clinical information, imaging, exam rooms and the provider ready and moving throughout the day.

This is hands-on clinical MA work. You will room patients, collect and enter HPI, prepare imaging, stock and turn over exam rooms, prepare injection materials, assist with dressings, staple removal and casting, and help keep clinic flow organized and efficient.

At least one year of Medical Assistant experience is required. Orthopedic and eClinicalWorks experience are strong pluses.

ABOUT FULL CIRCLE ORTHOPEDICS

Full Circle Orthopedics is a patient-focused orthopedic surgery practice serving Clearwater and Palm Harbor. We care for patients with a wide range of orthopedic conditions involving the knee, hip, shoulder, spine, elbow and hand, as well as acute injuries, fractures and postoperative recovery.

We are a small practice, so the Medical Assistant has a meaningful role in how well each clinic day goes. Your work is visible, your contribution matters, and a strong MA can make an immediate difference for patients, the physician and the rest of the team.

WHY THIS ROLE STANDS OUT

A predictable three-day workweek, Monday through Wednesday.
Hands-on orthopedic clinical work rather than a primarily administrative MA position.
Direct work with an experienced orthopedic physician.
Exposure to a variety of orthopedic conditions, injuries and treatments.
Opportunities to use practical skills involving patient intake, imaging preparation, dressing changes, staple removal, injection preparation and casting support.
A small-practice setting where strong work is noticed and makes a real difference.
A role where being organized, prepared and good with patients matters every day.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Room patients and prepare them for the provider.
Obtain an accurate history and collect and enter HPI into the EHR.
Prepare imaging portals and make sure needed information is ready before the provider enters the room.
Help control clinic flow and anticipate what needs to happen next.
Turn over exam rooms promptly and keep rooms clean, stocked and ready.
Prepare injection materials as directed by the provider and office protocol.
Remove staples and change dressings as appropriate.
Assist with casting and other orthopedic clinical procedures within the Medical Assistant role.
Communicate with the physician and other team members so clinical items and follow-up needs do not get overlooked.
Help maintain a calm, organized and patient-friendly environment even when clinic is busy.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

A successful Medical Assistant helps the clinic stay ahead rather than constantly catching up.

Patients are roomed and ready. HPI is accurate. Imaging and supplies are available when the physician needs them. Rooms are turned over promptly. Clinical tasks are completed correctly, and unfinished items are followed through.

You notice what needs attention, handle the responsibilities within your role, communicate when something needs help, and contribute to an efficient clinic day.

Just as importantly, patients experience someone who is attentive, compassionate and patient while they are dealing with pain, injury or recovery.

SCHEDULE

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
8:00am to 5:00pm
Approximately 24 hours per week
Work locations: Clearwater and Palm Harbor
This is one consistent part-time position.

BENEFITS

This part-time position does not currently include benefits.
Bonuses are not currently offered.

EXPERIENCE AND ONBOARDING

This is not an entry-level Medical Assistant position. At least one year of prior Medical Assistant experience is required, and you should already be comfortable performing the core duties of an MA and working directly with patients.

Practice-specific orientation will be provided so you can learn Dr. Donnelly's preferences, the orthopedic workflow, imaging process, exam-room setup and the way the clinic operates.

Certified Medical Assistant credentials are preferred but are not required if you have the experience and ability to perform the position successfully.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

At least one year of Medical Assistant experience is required.
Hands-on patient care experience.
Strong attention to detail.
Comfortable collecting and entering HPI and working in an EHR.
Experience with EHR/EMR systems.
eClinicalWorks experience is a strong plus.
Orthopedic experience is a strong plus.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or comparable credential) preferred, but not required.
Comfortable with dressing changes, staple removal, injection preparation, exam-room setup and assisting with casting or similar clinical procedures.
Able to stay organized and composed during a busy clinic day.
Compassionate and patient when working with people who may be uncomfortable, injured or in pain.
Good communication with patients, the physician and coworkers.
Someone who follows through, notices what needs attention and takes pride in helping the clinic run efficiently.
