Full Job Description

Roof Hugger is a specialty metal building products company that manufactures metal-over-metal retrofit framing systems used to install new metal panels over an existing metal roof system. The Hugger system allows contractors to install a new roof directly over the existing one, saving time, labor, disposal costs, and business disruption. The core products are structural notched “sub-purlins” (called Roof Huggers) that fit over the ribs of existing metal roof panels.

Job Description

We are seeking a customer-focused Estimator to join our growing team. Estimators will work directly with building owners, contractors, engineers, and other industry professionals to evaluate existing metal roofing systems, develop retrofit solutions, prepare proposals, and coordinate production from initial consultation through delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate existing metal roof systems and determine the Hugger components required to retrofit the roof.
When required, analyze the existing conditions of the building (that are supplied by the customer), applicable building code requirements, new roof panel type and its capacity for wind and snow loads, then develop the Hugger system tailored to each project.
Prepare accurate retrofit proposals and details.
Discuss existing conditions, requirements for the project, recommend solutions, pricing, and alternates/options to prospective customers.
Answer Hugger system questions for architects, engineers, contractors, and building owners relative to all phases of a retrofit, through phone or electronic communication.
Consult with engineers over details and requirements of projects submitted to Roof Hugger, to ensure accurate systems and detailing are prepared for the retrofit project, or when being asked for guidance on a particular detail of a roof system/situation.
Coordinate accepted orders for fabrication, scheduling, and delivery logistics with the order processor.
Maintain accurate project documentation and customer records.

Qualifications

Experience in metal roofing, metal building construction, building products, wood or steel truss framing systems, or other related industry preferred but not required.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications is a plus.
Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office (word & excel).
