Experienced Sushi Chef (3+ Years) – Premium Japanese Restaurant
Rio Izakaya | Tampa, FL – Marina Pointe

Rio Izakaya is seeking an experienced Sushi Chef to join our opening team in Tampa’s Marina Pointe district.

Our restaurant is built around craft, discipline, and ingredient integrity. The menu highlights binchotan yakitori, dry-aged fish, premium sashimi and nigiri, combining traditional Japanese technique with a modern izakaya atmosphere.

We are looking for chefs who take pride in their craft and want to work in a serious kitchen focused on quality and growth.

Responsibilities

Prepare nigiri, sashimi, and sushi rolls with precision and consistency
Handle premium seafood and fish breakdown with proper technique
Prepare and season sushi rice to exact standards
Maintain a clean and organized sushi station during prep and service
Ensure consistency in plating, knife work, and product quality
Work collaboratively with the executive chef and kitchen team
Uphold high standards of food safety and sanitation

Requirements

Minimum 3 years of sushi chef experience in a professional kitchen
Strong knife skills and understanding of fish handling
Knowledge of sushi rice preparation and Japanese ingredients
Ability to perform under pressure during busy service
Attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship
Professional attitude and strong team mentality

Preferred Experience

Experience working with high-quality or imported seafood
Familiarity with traditional Japanese techniques
Experience in restaurants focused on quality-driven cuisine
