Full Job Description

Taylor Nelson PL is seeking a legal assistant to join its nationally recognized boutique transportation and logistics practice. This opening is available in the firm’s Downtown St. Petersburg location. We are a small firm with a national footprint, handling complex and challenging matters that make a real business impact across the country.

We are looking for an individual who enjoys problem solving and desires a challenging environment.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

General Attorney and Paralegal Support

o Assist multiple attorneys with litigated, non-litigated, corporate and administrative proceeding matters throughout the State of Florida and elsewhere

o Transcribe papers and pleadings

o Schedule and coordinate in-person and telephone meetings-including court hearings, depositions and mediations

o Create professional documents with consistent formatting, through use of Microsoft and Adobe programs

o Help manage attorney workload through tracking of assigned matters and deadlines

o Proactively communicate and offer support as needed

o Take on special projects as requested by attorneys, including projects relating to both legal practice and firm development

o Assist with timekeeping and expense submissions

o Manage attorney travel, including all logistics, reservations, information, and coordination

o Create tasks and calendar notifications, with reminders, for appointments and court deadlines

o Manage attorney calendars

o Manage and organize electronic and paper files

o Manage incoming and outgoing mail

o Answer main phone line and act as administrative contact for the the St. Pete office

o Other tasks as needed

Skills

o Knowledge and willingness to learn court procedures and filing rules

o Working knowledge of Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Requirement:

Two (2)+ years’ experience as a legal assistant

Fluent in Spanish to write, read, speak and comprehend legal documents

Preferred
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Notary Public License (or willingness to obtain)

$50,000-$60,000
