Job Title: Event Technician I – Community Events

GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs various production and event duties related to planning, coordinating, warehousing, asset maintenance and management, event set up and strike, venue/facility maintenance, and preparation of Town Community Events, concerts, and internal Town of Taos events. Coordinate and execute Departmental materials, assets, equipment, and consumables inventory per Town protocol. May serve as the liaison to the venue, events, and contract labor, such as production personnel for an event, where assigned by the Facilities and Events Director.

Works under the general direction of the Events Support Coordinator and/or the Facilities and Events Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Serve as a representative of the Town of Taos, demonstrating a positive attitude and progressive actions through professionalism, courtesy, and appropriate tact and discretion in all interactions with other employees, contractors, promoters, outside event production staff, and the public.
Serves as asset management and maintenance advisor and liaison to the Event Support Coordinator – Community Events; informs and apprises, as required and directed, in all phases and types of events and event-related issues, including Assets, equipment repair and maintenance, warehousing, scheduling, sound checks, and compliance. Provides technical insight and recommendations for determining the event-related technical, stage, and venue requirements, building policies, goals, and objectives. Receives and carries out directives, formulates implementation options and strategies, and converts strategies to action plans, equipment needs, and deadlines. Evaluates departmental logistical, personnel, and financial needs and formulate short and long-range goals to meet needs in all areas of responsibility, including all town-owned equipment, assets, materials, structures, and properties.
Participates in staff, public, and pre-event meetings, including security planning and hearings as needed, and provides general and event participant information.
Determines and recommends event/venue project priorities. Specifies work schedules and deadlines; allocates equipment and vehicles essential to complete projects and determines materials needed to meet set objectives.
Work with the existing material and inventory software to manage, assess, account, and report Departmental assets. Conduct consumable inventory accounting and reporting within the Events Division. Identify and tag inventory as it is received. Establish warehouse and equipment storage protocols within the Facilities and Events Department.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Community Events Support Coordinator and/or Facilities and Events Director. Assist with Facilities Divisions as required and as time permits.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: High School, GED & up to 1 year of Job-Related Training or Education in event management, recreation, or related field; AND An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Possess basic understanding of venue operation., procedures, and techniques. Possess a basic understanding of general event practices; interpersonal communication skills; organizing public events, sporting events, and recreation programs.
Skill in the operation of various types of computer programs, ten key, copier, phone, etc.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; develop effective working relationships with local officials, representatives of local business/industry, community service organizations and groups, subordinate staff, and the public; manage an Event(s) program, including budgeting, maintaining records, and preparing reports; in understanding and interpreting laws, rules, regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures.
Special Qualifications:
Must possess a valid New Mexico driver's license.
Work Environment:
The position's incumbent generally performs regular work in outsides in various tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving some muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, and lifting (frequently move up to 50 pounds). Talking, hearing, and seeing are essential to the performance of the job. Common eye, hand, and finger dexterity exist. The employee works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and humid conditions and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating thinking, and creative problem-solving. Frequent local travel is required in the normal course of job performance.
