Job Description

Radiation Therapy Technologist (RTT) – Full time opportunity

Comprehensive Hematology Oncology is seeking a full time licensed Radiation Therapist, new grads welcome. The RTT will provide Radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by Radiation Oncologist according to established practices and standards. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Position Summary/Overview:

The Radiation Therapist provides Radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist in accordance with established practices and standards. Duties may include reviewing prescription and diagnosis; acting as liaison with physician and supportive care personnel; preparing equipment, such as immobilization, treatment, and protection devices; and maintaining records, reports, and files. May assist in dosimetry procedures and tumor localization.

Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

· Administers radiation therapy as prescribed be the Radiation Oncologist.

· Verifies prescribed treatment dose before each treatment, verifies areas to be treated and angles to be used.

· Assures placement of protective devices in order to shield otherwise healthy exposed tissue of patients.

· Simulates patients using simulator, CT scanner or other devices to accurately localize treatment areas.

· Display professional conduct essential to the wellbeing of the patient.

· Maintain accurate and detailed treatment chart documents.

· Observe the clinical progress of the patient, use clinical decision-making skills to recognize and report any signs or complications.

· Adhere to radiation safety procedures and protocols.

· Ensure that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently met.

· Performs other functions as required by management.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Excellent judgement, dependability, conscientious performance.

· Detail oriented with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

· Patient focus, caring and empathetic with high ethical standards.

· Mechanical ability and manual dexterity for operating complicated equipment.

· Analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Takes responsibility for own actions while demonstrating efficient and effective use of organizational resources, systems and services.

Education and Experience:

· Completion of a certificate, associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy from a JRCERT accredited program required.

· Board Certification by the American Board of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) is Radiation Therapy or be eligible to sit for the exam within 90-days of hire.

· Unencumbered Florida licensure issued by Florida Department of Health and Radiation Therapy Technology.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to environmental risk of radiation exposure, and biohazard exposure.
