Psychiatrist — Principium Psychiatry

Sophisticated Adult Outpatient Psychiatry | Full-Time, In-Person

Location: Midtown Manhattan, steps from Grand Central Station
Employment Type: Full-time
Base Compensation: $265,500–$310,000, commensurate with experience, with additional productivity-based compensation

About Principium Psychiatry

Principium Psychiatry is a physician-led mental healthcare company built around a fundamental principle: psychiatry should be practiced with depth, rigor, and professionalism—not speed or volume.

Our Manhattan clinicians treat a high-functioning, clinically complex adult population. Our model is designed for psychiatrists who value diagnostic clarity, longitudinal care, thoughtful clinical judgment, and adequate time with patients.

We do not operate a high-volume medication-management model or prioritize throughput at the expense of clinical quality. Principium offers an environment in which psychiatrists can practice sophisticated outpatient psychiatry with strong clinical and operational support.

The Role

We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible adult psychiatrist to join our Midtown Manhattan team.

This is a full-time, in-person position for a psychiatrist who:

Values adequate time with patients
Enjoys treating psychologically and diagnostically complex adults
Is comfortable exercising clinical judgment and providing clear treatment recommendations
Values continuity, professionalism, and long-term therapeutic relationships
Wants to build a stable, long-term outpatient career in Manhattan

This is not intended as a temporary, transitional, or exploratory position.

Clinical Scope

Adult outpatient psychiatry
Mood, anxiety, trauma-related, bipolar-spectrum, and personality-related conditions
Longitudinal medication management and comprehensive psychiatric treatment
Meaningful follow-up and continuity of care
Collaboration with psychotherapy and interventional psychiatry services
Opportunities to participate in ketamine and TMS treatment, although interventional work is not required
No inpatient coverage
No call
No overnight or weekend work

Ideal Candidate

Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency
Board-certified or board-eligible in adult psychiatry
Eligible for New York medical licensure; an active New York license is preferred
Comfortable treating complex outpatient psychiatric presentations
Demonstrates sound clinical judgment, reliability, and professional confidence
Communicates clear treatment recommendations to patients
Interested in a stable, long-term position in Midtown Manhattan
Values in-person collaboration and participation in a clinical team

Position Structure

This is a full-time, in-person clinical position. Because the role is designed around continuity of care, team participation, and long-term panel development, psychiatrists are expected to make Principium their exclusive clinical practice. Concurrent private practices or other ongoing outside clinical positions are not compatible with this role.
