IT Head (Confidential)

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)
Salary: $90,000–$105,000 annually

About the Company

A rapidly growing professional services organization is seeking an experienced IT Head to lead its Information Technology department. The company provides technology and business support services to a portfolio of professional clients and is committed to delivering exceptional service through operational excellence, innovation, and collaboration.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a hands-on technology leader who enjoys building high-performing teams, improving operational processes, and developing technology solutions that support both client success and organizational growth.

Position Summary

The IT Head is responsible for leading the organization's IT Support function by overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional service delivery, managing technology vendors, and driving continuous process improvement. This role serves as the primary leader of the IT department, providing operational direction, technical guidance, and strategic support while collaborating closely with executive leadership to achieve business objectives.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent communication, organizational, and people management skills.

This position has oppotunity for advancement to the Director of IT.

Key Responsibilities:

IT Operations & Service Delivery

Lead the daily operations of the IT Support department.
Monitor service level agreements (SLAs), performance metrics, and ticket queues to ensure timely, high-quality service delivery.
Oversee the resolution of complex technical issues and client escalations.
Analyze operational trends and implement improvements that increase efficiency and client satisfaction.
Ensure consistent delivery of exceptional technical support to clients and internal users.

Leadership & Team Development

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of IT support professionals.
Conduct regular coaching sessions, performance evaluations, and career development discussions.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Establish team goals, performance expectations, and operational standards.
Support recruiting, onboarding, and development of future IT team members.

Vendor & Technology Management

Manage relationships with technology vendors, software providers, and managed service partners.
Oversee software licensing, maintenance agreements, warranties, and support contracts.
Manage departmental technology budgets, vendor billing, and technology expenditures.
Evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions that improve business operations.

User Onboarding & Offboarding

Ensure consistent execution of employee onboarding and offboarding procedures.
Coordinate technology provisioning and access management with internal departments.
Maintain accurate documentation, asset tracking, and transition processes.
Serve as the escalation point for technology-related onboarding and offboarding issues.

Systems Administration & Platform Management

Maintain a strong understanding of the organization's technology environment and software platforms.
Oversee administration and optimization of the IT ticketing system and related technologies.
Ensure systems are secure, properly documented, and aligned with organizational objectives.
Promote cybersecurity best practices and adherence to security policies.

Process Improvement & Compliance

Identify opportunities to improve workflows, automation, and operational efficiencies.
Develop, maintain, and enhance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Collaborate with leadership to implement and enforce IT policies and best practices.
Ensure compliance with applicable security standards, data privacy regulations, and internal policies.

Business Growth & Client Success

Assist in developing new technology service offerings.
Support improvements to client onboarding and service delivery processes.
Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and education.
Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic initiatives that support business growth and operational excellence.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years of progressive IT experience.
3–5 years of leadership or management experience supervising technical teams.
2–3 years of experience supporting external clients in a professional services or managed services environment.
Experience managing IT service management (ITSM) and ticketing platforms.
Strong understanding of Microsoft environments, cloud technologies, networking fundamentals, cybersecurity best practices, and IT operations.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional client service.
Excellent leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid position based in New York, New York.

During the first month of employment, candidates should expect to work Monday through Thursday in the office to support onboarding, training, and relationship building.
Following the onboarding period, the schedule transitions to three in-office days per week, with the remaining days worked remotely.
Occasional travel may be required to support client engagements, technology initiatives, or company meetings.
