Confidential Opportunity – Director of Nursing (DON)
Kern County, CA
Salary: $120,000 -180,000 annually + Excellent Benefits BOE

A well-established, high-performing skilled nursing facility in Kern County is seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Nursing to lead and oversee the clinical operations of our facility. This is a confidential search for a dynamic nursing leader who is passionate about quality care, staff development, and operational excellence.

This facility has a strong clinical team in place, a supportive administration, and a reputation for providing high-quality care and rehabilitation services. We are looking for a Director of Nursing who can continue to build on that foundation, lead the nursing department, and drive clinical outcomes.

Position Summary

The Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and direction of the nursing department. This includes ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining quality resident care, managing nursing staff, overseeing clinical systems, and working closely with the interdisciplinary team and facility leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Nursing Department
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
Oversee staffing, scheduling, and clinical operations
Monitor clinical systems including infection control, QAPI, risk management, and staff education
Lead and mentor nursing management team including ADON, MDS, and Unit Managers
Participate in survey preparedness and lead plan of correction as needed
Collaborate with therapy, social services, dietary, and administration to ensure quality patient outcomes
Manage departmental budget and monitor supplies and staffing to meet financial and clinical goals
Foster a positive work environment, strong team culture, and high staff retention

Qualifications

Current, active RN license in California
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Director of Nursing in a Skilled Nursing Facility preferred (ADON experience considered)
Strong knowledge of Title 22, CMS regulations, PDPM, QAPI, and survey process
Proven leadership and staff management skills
Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) preferred
Ability to lead a team, manage multiple priorities, and maintain regulatory compliance
