Role Overview
BEPC is seeking an experienced Technician II to join our client's medical device manufacturing operations in Temecula, California. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on manufacturing professional with extrusion experience who enjoys troubleshooting equipment, optimizing processes, and contributing to continuous improvement in a regulated production environment.
In this role, you will perform extrusion and co-extrusion equipment setups, maintain established process parameters, inspect manufactured components, troubleshoot processing issues, and perform basic equipment maintenance. You'll work closely with operators, engineering, quality, and production leadership to keep manufacturing running safely, efficiently, and consistently.
The ideal candidate brings at least 2 years of hands-on extrusion experience, understands tooling and machine setups, and has experience working within Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complete tear-downs and setups for extrusion and co-extrusion equipment.
- Operate and maintain extrusion processes according to established cycle times and process parameters.
- Monitor production performance and escalate productivity or quality concerns to the appropriate resources.
- Troubleshoot basic extrusion and processing issues involving O.D., I.D., ovality, concentricity, FM, and related parameters.
- Read and interpret tooling prints, part prints, manufacturing processes, and technical documentation.
- Perform accurate inspections of manufactured components.
- Use precision quality and inspection equipment, including gauges, tooling scopes, micrometers, and rulers.
- Understand material properties and how they can affect extrusion processes and finished-product quality.
- Perform basic maintenance on extruders and auxiliary equipment, including dryers, melt filters, blow-off tables, cutters, and pullers.
- Order production tooling and necessary supply items.
- Coordinate with manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, and equipment support resources when additional technical assistance is required.
- Maintain accurate and complete manufacturing and quality documentation.
- Build effective working relationships with operators, group leads, engineering, quality, and department support teams.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities involving scrap reduction, cycle-time reduction, setup-time reduction, productivity, and quality.
- Take initiative in supporting department and production goals.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of extrusion experience.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with extrusion equipment and processes.
- Experience performing machine and process setups.
- Experience with extrusion tooling.
- Ability to troubleshoot extrusion equipment and processing issues.
- Experience working under GMP requirements.
- Ability to read and understand tooling prints, part prints, processes, and manufacturing documentation.
- Experience performing manufacturing parts inspections.
- Ability to use measurement and inspection equipment such as micrometers, gauges, rulers, and tooling scopes.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and equipment maintenance capabilities.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with production, engineering, quality, and leadership teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-year technical degree.
- Previous medical device manufacturing experience.
- Experience with extruders and co-extruders in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting scrap reduction, cycle-time reduction, setup reduction, or other continuous improvement initiatives.
