Full Job Description

Job Summary:

The California Licensed Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in preparing and dispensing prescription medications, maintaining accurate patient records, processing insurance claims, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service. All duties are performed under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in compliance with California pharmacy laws, California State Board of Pharmacy regulations, and HIPAA requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Receive and process new and refill prescription orders.
Enter prescription information accurately into the pharmacy management system.
Prepare, count, package, and label medications under pharmacist supervision.
Process insurance claims, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial plans.
Resolve basic insurance rejections and prior authorization requests when appropriate.
Maintain accurate patient profiles and pharmacy records.
Order, receive, and manage medication inventory.
Rotate stock and remove expired or recalled medications.
Answer telephone calls and assist patients with non-clinical questions.
Provide courteous and professional customer service.
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy.
Assist with audits, controlled substance documentation, and quality assurance activities.
Follow all HIPAA, OSHA, and California Board of Pharmacy regulations.

Qualifications:

Active California Pharmacy Technician License in good standing.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous community retail pharmacy experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge of pharmacy software and insurance billing systems.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Bilingual preferred but not required
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

Stand and walk for extended periods.
Lift up to 25 pounds.
Perform repetitive hand movements for prescription preparation.
Occasionally bend, reach, and stoop.

Work Environment:

Retail community pharmacy.
May require to work shifts based on business needs.
Must maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable federal and California pharmacy regulations.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
