Full Job Description

A growing organization is seeking a strategic Director of Purchasing to lead procurement and supply chain operations. This role is responsible for overseeing purchasing, subcontracting, vendor management, capital expenditures, and related procurement functions while ensuring cost-effective sourcing, supplier performance, and operational efficiency.

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Pay: $146k-$188k/annually (+ 15-20% travel)

Schedule: Monday-Friday

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage all procurement and purchasing activities, including subcontracting, vendor management, and capital expenditure purchasing.
Develop sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts, and maintain key supplier relationships.
Drive process improvements to increase efficiency and team performance.
Oversee supplier performance, risk management, dispute resolution, and supply chain issue mitigation.
Monitor procurement KPIs and ensure timely fulfillment of purchasing requests.
Partner with business leaders to support operational objectives and improve procurement processes.
Prepare and present executive-level reports on procurement performance, risks, and cost impacts.
Manage and develop purchasing managers, supervisors, and procurement staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, or a related field.
10+ years of procurement or purchasing leadership experience.
Strong leadership, negotiation, and supplier management skills.
Knowledge of supply chain management, subcontract administration, and contract review.
Proven success in process improvement, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.
High ethical standards with strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
