Full Job Description

Manor Middle School, in Killeen, Texas, is seeking an Assistant Principal. Licensure is preferred, but not required.

Specific job duties and essential skills are listed below:

Primary Purpose:

Assume leadership and responsibility for school functions, instruction and outcomes

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Manage the day-to-day operation of the School, including implementing and monitoring plans, procedures, programs, and systems to achieve clearly defined and desired outcomes
Nurture self-awareness
Self-assesses strengths, areas for growth, and preferences
Reflects on her actions; acts with courage and integrity
Success measured by systemic leadership rubric
Establish a shared vision of success
Reinforce Core Beliefs consistently
Guide staff to a shared vision that unites staff in a common goal
Establish goals and clarify purpose
Lead change through teamwork and collaboration
Maximize human potential and inspire staff towards best hopes
Demonstrate other leadership skills
Communicate well and practice sense-making
Make effective decisions that enhance the operations and instruction of the school
Demonstrate broad perspective
Operate systemically

Monitor progress of staff members and the school
Guide the instructional program
Maintain an intense focus on student academic achievement and maintain a strong instructional core
Improve the quality of instruction
Assess student learning
Evaluate staff
Grow staff capacity and leadership density
Provide effective coaching and professional development
Facilitate individual growth of teachers and other staff members
Strengthen leadership capacity
Recruit and retain effective teachers
Work with the Principal to recruit and hire effective teachers
Retain effective teachers
Create a positive work environment and a high-performance culture
Communicate with external and internal stakeholders
Communicate with staff and practice sense-making
Build positive relations with parents and other school stakeholders
Use different media to communicate key messages
Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

Specific staff as assigned by the building principal

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree required, or currently enrolled in a program
Minimum of two years administrative experience in a K-12 setting
Minimum of five years of teaching experience
Early literacy specialist
Ability to provide exceptional instructional feedback
Motivate and inspire staff
Multi-task and excellent time management
Superior knowledge of operational leadership and effectiveness
Solid understanding of basic teaching pedagogy
