Full Job Description

Job Overview
WCA is seeking an experienced tax professional, with at least 3-5 years of experience, to join our mid-sized team at a boutique public accounting firm. This role is perfect for a motivated tax professional who enjoys helping individuals and businesses grow through accurate compliance, thoughtful planning, and strong client relations. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing multiple client engagements, preparing and reviewing returns, conducting tax research, and mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities

Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and other entities
Manage tax engagements for a diverse client base across various industries
Conduct tax research and apply it to complex tax issues
Identify tax planning opportunities and provide proactive recommendations to clients including quarterly tax projections
Assist clients with tax notices and handling correspondence with taxing authorities
Collaborate with partners, managers, and staff to ensure timely and accurate completion of tax projects
Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive communication and trusted advisory support
Supervise, train, and mentor junior tax staff as needed
Stay current on tax law changes and industry developments affecting clients

Qualifications

Minimum of 3-5 years of recent tax experience in public accounting
College level training in Accounting preferred
Willingness to obtain EA (Enrolled Agent) designation preferred
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations
Experience preparing and reviewing a variety of tax returns
Experience with tax software (Prosystem preferred)
Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Ability to manage multiple deadlines during peak tax seasons
Client-facing experience and advisory capabilities
Bookkeeping and QuickBooks experience a plus!

Work Environment

Full-time position
On-site work environment in a centralized downtown office
Overtime required during tax season (February-April)
