Looking for a marketing operator to become our Marketing Director for a growing consumer beauty brand. Our products sit in 25,000 beauty and consumer locations across the US and Canada, and that footprint is still expanding.
What we need is the person who can build the plan and then go execute it. You will own the marketing plan across the portfolio and be personally responsible for the work landing. Write the launch brief. Art direct the shoot. Cut the video. Brief the agency and hold them to the number. Build the shelf set. Pitch the editor. Load in the booth.
The team is small and capable. The budget is real. Nobody sits between you and the decision, which means the wins are visibly yours.
There is also room to grow here. We are scaling, and the person who proves they can run this division well will be first in line to run more of it.
If you want to delegate everything and review decks, keep looking.
WHAT YOU OWN
1. The marketing plan
- Build the annual marketing plan across brands and channels. Objectives, positioning, calendar, budget allocation, channel mix, and the numbers each piece is expected to deliver.
- Turn the plan into execution. Every initiative gets an owner, a brief, a deadline, and a defined output.
- Report against it on a set cadence. What shipped, what it produced, what changes next.
- Manage the budget line by line. Allocate it, spend it well, and defend the allocation with results.
2. Product launches
- Own launches end to end, from positioning brief through post-launch reporting. Dates tie to buying cycles and the show calendar, so they hold.
- Build the complete launch kit. Claims-compliant messaging architecture, education and training materials, key talking points, packaging and shelf support, social content, email and SMS flows, paid creative, PR angles, sales enablement.
- Work directly with R&D and regulatory so every claim that ships is defensible. Approved language flows through everything from voiceover to shelf card.
- Run stage gates on every launch. One owner per asset, one locked brief, one designated reviewer for sign-off.
- Close the loop. Sell-in, sell-through, reorder rate, content performance, and what you would change next time.
3. Digital growth
- Own paid social, paid search, retail media, email, SMS, organic social, and site conversion across the portfolio.
- Set and defend the metrics. CAC, ROAS, contribution margin, AOV, subscription retention, email revenue share, repeat rate.
- Direct the digital agency. Write briefs they can execute against, review the media plan in detail, hold them to a scorecard.
- Run a weekly creative testing loop on hooks, formats, and offers. Cut what fails and scale what works.
- Build the content engine that feeds all of it, including professional and consumer education content, testimonial content, and founder science content.
4. Creative direction and production
- Protect the visual system across every surface. Photography, typography, color, packaging support, campaign look and feel.
- Art direct photo and video. Build the shot list, run the set, review selects, give notes that make the work sharper.
- Stay hands on in the tools. Cut and caption short-form video, mock a layout, retouch a shelf image, assemble the deck that closes an account.
- Write. Headlines, product copy, education scripts, press pitches, sales one-pagers. Strong copy is a requirement here, not a bonus.
5. PR and earned media
- Own press strategy across trade and consumer beauty. Third-party credibility drives our category, so it gets real attention.
- Pitch the founder story, the ingredient science, real results, and award submissions. Build those relationships yourself.
- Manage the publicist or PR agency, and run influencer and professional seeding with a real follow-up system behind it.
6. Events and activations
- Own the show and event calendar. Booth design, demo flow, staff scripting, stage content, lead capture, and the follow-up sequence that turns a badge scan into an order.
- Build activations that put product in people's hands. Education events, ambassador moments, backstage and editorial partnerships, regional account events.
- Be there. This part of the job happens on your feet, sometimes on a weekend.
7. Retail and in-store branding
- Design and deploy the merchandising system. Shelf sets, testers, window graphics, counter cards, endcaps, starter kits, planogram support.
- Give the sales team visual tools that move product off the shelf and make the reorder conversation easy at scale.
- Manage print vendors, production timelines, and fulfillment so field requests actually arrive.
8. People and process
- Manage and grow the in-house team. Hire well, coach directly, run a real one-on-one cadence, give feedback in the moment.
- Build the operating system. Campaign brief template, asset request intake, review path, approval gates, project tracking, calendar discipline.
- Partner across the company. Sales, education, operations, R&D, and account partners all touch what you produce.
THE STANDARD
Four things separate the person who thrives here from the person who struggles.
Energy. Launch weeks are intense and show floors are long. You bring the level of energy that pulls a room forward instead of waiting for someone else to set the tone.
Effort. You do the unglamorous work. The last twenty percent of a project, the follow-up email nobody assigned, the second pass on a file that was already fine. Effort is visible in the output, and ours will show it.
Detail. A wrong ingredient on a shelf card, a broken link in a flow, a file at the wrong spec before a print run. At our distribution scale, small errors get expensive fast. You proofread, you check specs, you verify the claim, and you catch it before the reviewer does.
Communication. You write clearly and you speak plainly. Sales knows what is coming and when. Leadership knows where things stand without asking. Agencies know exactly what you want. When something slips, you say so early and bring the fix with you.
