Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and motivated professional to join our Collections Department. Position is part time, with potential to work to a full time potential. The successful candidate will assist attorneys and the Collections Department Head in managing a high-volume caseload while ensuring deadlines are met and matters progress efficiently. This position requires excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills, as well as the ability to work independently in a fast-paced legal environment. Salary depending on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manage an assigned collections caseload from inception through resolution.
Maintain and monitor court deadlines, hearings, and other important dates through the firm’s docketing system.
Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, notices, affidavits, garnishments, and other collection-related filings.
File pleadings and other documents electronically with state and federal courts, as applicable.
Communicate professionally with clients regarding case status, requested documentation, and ongoing legal matters.
Maintain accurate and organized electronic and physical case files.
Review files to ensure all necessary documentation is complete and deadlines are satisfied.
Coordinate with attorneys, court personnel, clients, and third parties as necessary.
Assist with other administrative and legal support duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Prior experience in a law firm, legal department, or collections environment required
Knowledge of civil litigation procedures and court filing requirements is preferred.
Experience with electronic court filing systems (e-filing) preferred.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Skills

Experience handling collection matters and post-judgment proceedings.
Familiarity with docketing and calendaring systems.
Ability to manage a high-volume workload efficiently.
Strong problem-solving skills and sound professional judgment.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
