Position Title: Community Engagement Coordinator

II. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
The Community Engagement Coordinator collaborates with internal departments, individuals, local businesses and community groups to strengthen Catholic Charities Terre Haute’s outreach efforts. This position plays a vital role in supporting the Development team by overseeing volunteer management, maintaining a strong social media presence and providing event assistance as needed.
Key responsibilities include developing engaging social media content, cultivating community partnerships, managing volunteer and community service worker (CSW) programs and supporting fundraising and awareness events when needed. This role also executes objectives of the organization’s 3-year strategic plan related to expanding volunteer engagement, building a sustainable volunteer pipeline and increasing meaningful volunteer opportunities.

III. POSITION CONTENT
A. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Community Engagement & Outreach
a. Cultivate and maintain community partnerships to support fundraising efforts, peer-to-peer campaigns, third-party events and food or product drives.
b. Coordinate speaking engagements and outreach opportunities to promote Catholic Charities’ mission and programs.
c. Plan and execute community awareness events, ensuring strong engagement and participation.
d. Identify and develop partnerships with community organizations, businesses and educational institutions to grow volunteer participation.
2. Volunteer Management
a. Oversee all aspects of volunteer and CSW programs, ensuring applicants complete required training, background checks and documentation.
b. Track and report volunteer and CSW hours to compile monthly reports for Directors’ meetings.
c. Monitor volunteer application and onboarding process to ensure or enhance accessibility and clarity.
d. Develop a structured training program to educate volunteers and CSWs about Catholic Charities and provide role-specific instructions.
e. Engage and recruit volunteers for specific needs, including major events such as the Duck Regatta, Quick Quack and Soup Bowl Benefit.
f. Collaborate with local businesses to coordinate employee volunteer initiatives.
g. Develop and implement strategies to expand the volunteer pipeline in alignment with the 3-year strategic plan.
h. Work with program directors to identify new and meaningful volunteer opportunities that support program sustainability and impact.
3. Social Media & Communications
a. Develop, manage, and enhance the organization's social media presence by planning, creating and publishing timely, relevant and engaging content that supports campaign objectives.
b. Work collaboratively with Development and program staff to create content for digital materials, printed publications, videos and infographics.
c. Maintain and update website content to ensure accuracy and engagement.
d. Prepare and evaluate website performance using Google Analytics 4
e. Conduct regular website maintenance in accordance with internal policies and procedures
f. Document and share stories, photos and impact reports from community outreach, corporate partnerships and events to support sponsorship recognition and marketing initiatives.
4. Event Assistance
a. Provide support for fundraising and awareness events as needed.
b. Assist with volunteer recruitment and coordination for major events.
c. Support logistics, promotion and on-site needs for community awareness and fundraising events when required.
5. General Responsibilities
a. Adhere to organizational policies and procedures while working as an integral member of the Development team.
b. Perform other duties assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the organization.
IV. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
A. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND/OR ABILITIES
1. Strong organization and planning skills
2. Proficiency in Canva and Adobe InDesign preferred
3. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word and Outlook) required
4. Proficiency in effectively utilizing a social media scheduling platform such as through Constant Contact
5. Demonstrated ability to write and edit business documents and success stories with strong proofreading skills, attention to detail and appropriate organizational language
6. Ability to organize and manage workload to meet deadlines
7. Strong interpersonal skills
8. Self-motivated with good judgment and the ability to work effectively as a team member
9. Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
10. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
11. Willingness to foster the Church’s mission
B. EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Communication, Marketing, Creative Writing or Graphic Design preferred)
2. 2 years of work experience in a Marketing/Communications position preferred
3. Previous work experience with fundraising and non-profit organizations preferred
4. Previous experience using Google Analytics 4 preferred
5. Must be able to understand and comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct
6. Must successfully complete the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training
7. Background screening required
8. Valid driver’s license required
9. Ability to reliably travel to off-site locations on a regular basis, including travel of up to two hours from the office, using personal or alternative transportation.
V. WORKING ENVIRONMENT
A. Hybrid position requiring immediate access to local events and meetings, with flexibility to meet at the Terre Haute office during normal business hours as requested.
B. Physical demands include regular walking, standing and sitting.
C. Primarily daytime hours, with occasional evenings, weekends and holidays.
D. Must be able to read email and use related tools for the role.
E. Must be able to process and maintain large volumes of documentation.
F. Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and community partners via telephone, one-on-one conversations, face-to-face meetings, public presentations and written correspondence.
G. Requires extensive use of keyboards and other administrative equipment.
H. Ability to travel to and work as needed in the Terre Haute office or surrounding counties is required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
