Medicaid Case Coordinator at Hawkins Elder Law

Hawkins Elder Law is a focused elder law firm helping families navigate the financial and legal challenges of long-term care. A significant part of our practice involves helping clients protect assets while qualifying for Indiana Medicaid benefits in full compliance with Medicaid law and policy.

Our Medicaid practice is fast-paced, detail-driven, and built on precision. Our clients rely on us during an important and often stressful time in their lives, and getting the details right matters.

THE ROLE

We are hiring a full-time Medicaid Case Coordinator to join our Medicaid team.
This is a professional case-management position involving significant responsibility for keeping Medicaid cases organized, accurate, and moving forward. You will work closely with another experienced Medicaid Case Coordinator and our attorneys as part of a collaborative team.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, enjoys detail, follows through relentlessly, and works well alongside other strong professionals.
Prior Indiana Medicaid experience is highly valued, but it is not required for an exceptional candidate.
Experience with Indiana FSSA/Medicaid, Maximus, nursing-facility Medicaid, nursing-home business office operations, Medicaid application services, elder law or a similar field would be particularly valuable.
For a candidate without direct Medicaid experience, we are willing to train someone who demonstrates exceptional organization, judgment, attention to detail, follow-through, and the ability to master complex rules and systems.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

1. Medicaid Case Management

Gather, review, and organize detailed financial and asset information
Manage documentation and verifications required for Medicaid eligibility
Prepare information and documentation used in Medicaid applications
Identify missing, inconsistent or incomplete information
Track deadlines, outstanding items and case progress
Follow up persistently with clients, facilities, financial institutions and government agencies
Maintain accurate, exceptionally well-organized case files
Help move cases from planning through application and approval

2. Team Collaboration

Work shoulder-to-shoulder with another experienced Medicaid Case Coordinator
Communicate regularly with attorneys regarding case progress and issues
Share information and collaborate on difficult cases
Respectfully raise questions or concerns when something does not appear right
Accept feedback and different perspectives professionally
Support team decisions once a course of action has been established

3. Learning and Professional Development

Develop a strong working knowledge of Indiana Medicaid eligibility rules and procedures
Learn Hawkins Elder Law's Medicaid planning strategies, systems, and procedures
Develop increasing independence and expertise as your knowledge grows
Become a trusted resource for our clients and the Medicaid team

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Starting pay: $22 per hour

Pay: $22.00 per hour

This position involves managing multiple cases at once, with large amounts of financial documentation, exact details, firm deadlines, and repeated follow-up. Tell us about work you have done that required this level of organization and attention to detail, and specifically how you made sure nothing was missed.
Please describe any direct experience you have with Indiana Medicaid, including applications, eligibility, FSSA, nursing-facility Medicaid, or Medicaid case management. If you do not have direct Medicaid experience, please describe the professional or other substantial experience you believe would prepare you to learn a complex, rule-driven system and manage important cases for clients.
