Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Phlebotomy Technician to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples and other specimens from patients with precision and care, ensuring accurate laboratory testing and diagnosis. Your expertise in laboratory procedures, patient care, and specimen handling will contribute significantly to the quality of our clinical services. Duties

Perform blood draws using venipuncture and skin puncture techniques with aseptic precision to ensure patient safety and specimen integrity
Collect, label, and process specimens accurately following established laboratory procedures and protocols
Assist patients of all ages—including pediatrics and geriatrics—by providing compassionate care and clear instructions during specimen collection
Maintain strict adherence to laboratory techniques, including proper specimen handling, storage, and transportation to ensure reliable test results
Document all procedures accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems while ensuring data entry accuracy
Monitor vital signs when necessary and observe patient physiology to ensure comfort and safety during procedures
Follow infection control practices such as aseptic technique and proper blood sampling procedures to prevent contamination or infection risks
Support laboratory staff by preparing specimens for testing, including centrifugation or other processing steps as needed
Heavy lifting may be required when handling supplies or transporting specimens within the facility

Qualifications

Proven experience in medical laboratory work, including specimen collection, processing, and phlebotomy techniques
Knowledge of laboratory procedures, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical laboratory standards
Certification or training in phlebotomy, with current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification preferred
Prior hospital or healthcare facility experience is highly desirable
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate data entry and documentation
Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations including pediatrics and geriatrics
Ability to perform venipuncture efficiently while maintaining aseptic technique under pressure
Capable of heavy lifting when necessary and maintaining physical stamina for long shifts involving standing, walking, or repositioning patients
