Full Job Description

WBL/Transition Coordinator

Teaches students in accordance with the goals and objective of the students’ IEP using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Assists in identifying new WBL opportunities in keeping with student interests and capabilities and maintains communications with sites already identified.
Provides training to WBL instructors on effective methods of community based instruction relevant to WBL.
Efficiently schedules staff and students for WBL experiences.
Assists in the preparation and filing of data requirements as well as the writing and distribution of progress reports three times per year as relevant to the goals and objectives as stated pertaining to WBL experiences in which the student has participated and/or is currently engaged.
Ensures student readiness for participation in appropriate WBL experiences based on the students’ skills and behavioral needs.
Maintains accurate and up to date data and information concerning the students’ performance in all WBL experiences.
Assists in conducting educational program reviews, workshops, and in-service trainings as relevant to the WBL and Transition program and ABA.
Ensures that communication with parents is regular, accurate and current.
Attends staff meetings, training sessions, and is thoroughly versed in the policies and procedure of the EPIC school.
Participates in and develops necessary documents for IEP meetings and progress reporting as relevant to Transition and WBL experience of the student.
Participates in meetings with parents regarding Transition and WBL experiences.
Completes assessments as needed.
Completion of the NJ DOE WBL Training Sequence.
Direct the formulation of WBL and Transition goals, plans and trainings
Provide input for all staff appointments and other personnel actions such as assignments, terminations and suspensions relevant to WBL and Transition.
Responsible for areas of WBL and Transition operations and programs including, but not limited to, coordination with Families, Staff, WBL sites and District Personnel.
Develop and foster a relationship with district personnel to enhance the WBL and/or Transition Process.
Conduct functional behavioral assessments as required relevant to WBL experiences
Develop and distribute WBL/Transition Reports with input from relevant personnel
Oversee regular reviews (analysis) of student program data as relevant to WBL experiences.
Conduct observations of WBL/Transition programming in community settings.
Contribute information about performance of staff engaged in WBL/Transition Programming.
Attend, to the extent possible, clinic and analysis meetings for all WBL/Transition students.
Keep families informed as to any changes in students behavioral, social, communication, self-care and WBL/Transition status
Train new staff on the collection of student skill acquisition and behavior reduction data in program and during WBL using principles of ABA.
Maintain security of the student programs, materials, information, and data as related to WBL/Transition.
Coordinates the activities of the Business Advisory Council.

CERTIFICATIONS

· In accordance with applicable law, WBL Coordinator has a Certification and/or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing/Certificate of Eligibility as an elementary Teacher and Teacher of students with disabilities or Teacher of the Handicapped Certificate. WBL Coordinator has completed all requirements as required by regulation and/or policy.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology or related field; Graduate education desired but not required.
Two to three years’ experience working with children with Autism/PDD is preferred.
Demonstrates skills and insights into behavioral instruction as well as expertise in Applied Behavior Analysis.
Maintains students’ records at an exemplary level.
Demonstrates advanced skills in problem solving of students’ skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs.
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of technology
Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills.
Has excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills and is able to supervise the work of others.
Can perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Relates well to students and parents.
Required criminal history background check and other legal requirements for employment in a school such as EPIC.
Additional experience and/or training requirements required by the EPIC Board of Trustees
Physical and Emotional Job Responsibilities (as noted in TOH contract)
Working at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
Standing and circulating for extended periods of time.
Observing students, reviewing data, reading research literature, and other printed matter.
Lifting and carrying objection up to 50 pounds.
Ability to cope with moderate to high stress levels.
Daily contact with students, WBL Coordinators, and school staff.
Regular contact with parents, community members and outside agency personnel.
Daily active instructional interaction with individuals displaying physically aggressive, self-injurious, or socially undesirable behavior.

INITIATIVE REQUIRED

WBL Coordinator is required to have strong self-management skills and must communicate clearly, quickly, and precisely. The WBL Coordinator must act professionally, modeling the tone and conduct of the classrooms and the high level of integrity at the EPIC school. The individual needs to be able to anticipate problems and to take steps to prevent them from occurring.

CONTACTS

The individual communicates with the EPIC Directors, peers, Paraprofessionals, students, Child Study Teams and parents.

PHYSICAL DEMAND/WORKING CONDITIONS

The WBL Coordinator is expected to perform all responsibilities consistently and effectively. Arrival at school well before opening to ensure readiness of the classroom is expected. The WBL Coordinator is required to be available to the Paraprofessionals as needed. Occasionally, the WBL Coordinator will be expected to remain after hours for staff meetings or training.
