Full Job Description

Position Description: JOB SUMMARY

The Camp Manager at CBCST will oversee the grief camp programs, handling program design, training, and budgeting. They will ensure adherence to trauma-informed and efficient practices. The Camp Manager will ensure compliance with ethical and professional standards and cultivate a supportive and collaborative environment. Advanced critical thinking skills and consistent leadership skills are vital.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

A. Direct Services

Creates and implements camp-based trainings for volunteers, community members, and host partners.
Responsible for the operations and administration of all CBCST camps.
Directs all onsite and offsite day and overnight grief camps for children, adolescents, young adults, and adult caregivers.
Creates, establishes, and implements trauma-informed/evidence based, and developmental grief curricula for camp attendees.
Administers a fully structured intake system with potential campers to determine eligibility, client needs, and appropriateness for services.
Ensures all campers have a biopsychosocial assessment prior to commencement of camp services.
Administers in-person risk assessments for all campers with a history of mental health risk related behaviors to determine appropriateness, any higher level of needs and camp safety.
Establish pre-camp interviews with all interested non-CBCST staff camp volunteers and use data to inform improvements.
Administers post-camp assessments/evaluations for camp attendees and volunteers.
Depending on organizational needs and therapist availability, may provide additional support facilitating biopsychosocial and in-person assessments as requested by the Director of Grief Support Services.
May provide individual, short term (8-12 sessions) bereavement counseling for children, utilizing Trauma and Grief Component Therapy for Adolescents, Play therapy interventions or any other interventions appropriate for client.
May prepare progress notes and treatment plan updates in the client’s record within 48 business hours. Maintains all clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory and accrediting standards and in accordance with CBCST guidelines.
Adheres to mandatory reporting requirements for child abuse as mandated by Texas law, ensuring the safety and well-being of our clients and in accordance with CBCST guidelines.
Adheres to ethical standards as outlined by the American Counseling Association Code of Ethics.
Reports any concerns related to client’s wellbeing, safety, and/or intent to harm self or others as mandated by Texas law and in accordance with CBCST guidelines.

B. Administration

Create and maintain budget for camp programs.
Maintains curriculum supplies and master calendar for camp programs.
Collaborates with Director of Grief Support Services, Community Engagement Manager and Support Group Manager to ensure volunteer coverage for Potluck Partners, medical staff, and additional camp roles.
Oversees and executes timely reporting of camp attendance and program exiting.
Participates in weekly Program Team Meetings with program staff.
Participate in all staff meetings as directed by the Chief Program Officer.
Designs and implement program schedules and activities for camp attendees and volunteers using the Dual Process Model of Grief.
Assigns Camp intakes to intake coordinator.
Manages and oversees camp intakes, custody documentation, camper and volunteer rosters, health history and medical logs, incident reports, and caregiver communication.
Mandatory availability for all camps is required. May require beyond 40 hours per week, weekend hours, etc.

Creates and delivers quarterly camp board reports to the Chief Program Officer

C. Collaboration

Work closely with the Director of Grief Support Services to uphold the core values and principles of CBCST’s culture and create a positive working environment for all team members.
Work closely with the Director of Grief Support Services to monitor programmatic operations to ensure sound fiscal and system management.
Participates in awareness/education presentations and events as needed.
Maintains open communication and collaboration with all CBCST staff members and departments.

Collaborates with data analyst to ensure reports are correct and data entry is completed.
Maintain ongoing communication with external camp donors, hosts, and additional partners.

EDUCATION/SKILLS/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree in a relevant field (social work/counseling), clinical licensure of LPC or LCSW preferred.
Minimum of two years of leadership experience with a proven record of success
Demonstrated experience managing a high-performing team exhibiting high levels of distress management critical for problem solving and crisis situations.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to represent CBCST
Experience in grief, loss and trauma for children and adults
Experience in working with diverse and multicultural populations.
Strong organizational skills, time management skills, and adept at multi-tasking
Proficient use of computers, internet, social media, Microsoft Office suite of programs, and multi-line phone system

Physical Requirements

This position involves typical periods of sitting, walking, and clinical typing for documentation, with occasional lifting up to 20 pounds, mobility within the office and the capacity to work with children of all ages. Clear verbal and written communication, along with basic reaching and dexterity skills, are essential for successful performance.

During camp, mobility to work outside and/or in the elements, including but not limited to direct sunlight, extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, etc.
