Lab Analyst

Location: Ector County, TX
Job Type: 7-Month Contract
Pay Rate : $39.00/hr
Schedule: 7 Days On / 7 Days Off

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Lab Analyst to support laboratory testing and analytical activities for environmental, product, and process operations. This position will perform laboratory analyses, quality control testing, environmental sampling, instrument verification, sample management, and general laboratory support while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, regulatory, corporate, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and laboratory skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a rotating 7 days on / 7 days off schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, plan, and conduct laboratory procedures for environmental, product, and process analysis.
Perform laboratory analyses in accordance with established laboratory procedures, quality manuals, and applicable requirements.
Conduct quality control and environmental laboratory sampling and verify the accuracy of field laboratory sampling results.
Troubleshoot laboratory procedures, analytical methods, instruments, and equipment in collaboration with other laboratory personnel.
Support the laboratory quality system through statistical verification of instrument operability and accuracy.
Maintain laboratory instruments and equipment and support proper operation, maintenance, and performance verification.
Develop and update laboratory procedures as required.
Participate in daily operations meetings and communicate information related to safety, environmental compliance, quality, and key performance measures.
Participate in safety programs, including inspections, job observations, near-miss reporting, incident investigations, area audits, and other safety initiatives.
Maintain required laboratory training, skills, qualifications, and competency standards.
Ensure all samples and chemicals are properly labeled, handled, stored, packaged, and shipped.
Support laboratory services including product sample storage, sample packaging and shipping, laboratory stockroom activities, and plant and laboratory sampling.
Maintain proper housekeeping and organization within the laboratory.
Identify and initiate corrective actions for process, safety, environmental, or quality deficiencies.
Follow the Chemical Hygiene Plan and all applicable laboratory safety procedures.
Understand the location and proper use of emergency equipment within the laboratory and sampling areas.
Follow established emergency response procedures.
Properly select and use required personal protective equipment.
Provide a high level of internal and external customer service and appropriately follow up on customer concerns or complaints.
Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail to ensure reliable laboratory results and consistent product quality.
Assist with special projects and other laboratory activities as assigned.
Perform additional responsibilities as directed by Plant Management.

Required Qualifications

Previous experience working in a laboratory, analytical, chemical, environmental, or industrial testing environment.
Experience performing laboratory analyses and following established laboratory procedures.
Knowledge of laboratory safety practices, chemical handling, and PPE requirements.
Ability to accurately collect, identify, label, document, handle, and maintain samples.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate and reliable analytical results.
Ability to troubleshoot laboratory procedures, instruments, and equipment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
Ability to work a rotating 7 days on / 7 days off schedule.
Ability to follow safety, environmental, quality, and company procedures consistently.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
Experience in an oil and gas, chemical manufacturing, refining, petrochemical, or industrial laboratory environment.
Experience working with analytical laboratory instruments and quality control processes.
Experience performing environmental or field sampling.
Knowledge of statistical methods used for laboratory quality control and instrument verification.
Familiarity with federal, state, corporate, environmental, health, safety, and quality requirements.

Pay: $30.00 - $39.00 per hour
