About Us
The modern medical system often forces incredible providers to choose between their own well being and the quality of care they provide. Rushed appointments and high intervention hospital cultures are burning out professionals who simply want to practice true, patient centered medicine.
At Holy Family Services, we offer a sanctuary for both our patients and our staff. For over 40 years, we have been a cornerstone of maternal health equity and out of hospital birth in the Rio Grande Valley. We believe that birth is a profound physiological life event, and we fiercely protect the time required to build deep, unhurried trust with our families.
Operating out of four beautiful, private birth houses on a tranquil property in Weslaco, Texas, we provide an environment where you can actually practice the beautiful art of holistic healthcare. As we expand our collaborative clinical team and pursue official CABC accreditation, we are looking for passionate professionals and genuinely great people who want to help us shape the next forty years of community wellness.
The Role
We are looking for a true operational and medical leader who is also a profoundly warm, collaborative team player. You are a CNM who is ready to run a clinical floor, but you are not ready to give up catching babies entirely.
You will share leadership of the birth center alongside our Director of Administration. While they manage the business and financial health of the facility, you are the public face of our clinical operations. You are the ultimate clinical anchor, overseeing our medical protocols, managing the daily logistics of the nursing floor, ensuring we meet rigorous CABC safety standards, and acting as the backup medical consultant for our staff midwives.
We know you cannot run a busy clinic if you are up all night on call. To protect your time while keeping you connected to the work you love, you will carry a small, highly protected caseload of just 4 to 6 due dates a month, while serving as the ultimate emergency safety net for the facility.
What You Will Do
- Be the Face of the Clinic You are our lead clinical ambassador. You will actively participate in community outreach events, spearhead our mobile clinic initiatives, and speak passionately about physiological birth so families in the Rio Grande Valley know exactly why our birth center is a safe, empowering choice.
- Build Community Bridges You are a natural relationship builder. You will actively cultivate profound trust and open communication with local backing physicians, EMS teams, and hospital charge nurses so our transfer protocols run flawlessly and our midwives feel completely supported in the wider medical community.
- Lead with Warmth We need a genuinely great person to lead this team. You will foster a culture of deep mutual respect on the clinical floor. You will directly manage, schedule, and mentor our Staff RNs, CPMs, and PRN Birth Assistants, always leading by lifting people up and ensuring every single staff member feels valued.
- Oversee Students and Preceptors As a teaching facility, you will manage our student midwife and nursing student rotations, ensuring they receive exceptional mentorship without compromising patient safety or floor efficiency.
- Drive Accreditation and Quality Act as our internal CABC compliance officer. You will lead our Continuous Quality Improvement program by tracking clinical outcomes, updating our medical policy manual annually, performing emergency transfer audits, and leading monthly emergency drills for the entire clinical team.
- Be the Safety Net Review clinical charts for risk out criteria within 48 hours of submission. You will step in to consult, manage complex triage, and coordinate hospital transfers when our floor midwives encounter maternal or fetal risk factors.
- Manage Medical Logistics Take ownership of the clinical supply chain. You will legally sign for and oversee the secure storage logs for all controlled substances, emergency pharmaceuticals, and oxygen on the property.
- Provide Direct Patient Care Provide unhurried, full scope midwifery and well woman care for a protected caseload of 4 to 6 due dates a month. You will complete all necessary charting within 24 hours of a patient encounter.
- Assume Responsibility Perform all other duties as assigned to support facility safety and operations.
What We Are Looking For
- The Basics Active Texas RN and APRN licenses with full prescriptive authority, a current DEA registration, plus an active AMCB certification (CNM). Active BLS and NRP certifications are required.
- The Experience At least 3 to 5 years of out of hospital birth experience, plus a minimum of 2 years in a management, charge nurse, or clinical operations role. If you have been through the CABC accreditation process before, we definitely want to talk to you.
- The Vibe You are a deeply warm, highly organized, and unflappable team player. You love spreadsheets and safety protocols just as much as you love community outreach and maternal health. You are the kind of person who leaves an ego at the door and builds bridges wherever you go.
- Language Being bilingual (English/Spanish) is a massive plus for serving our diverse patient base and communicating effectively with local hospital staff.
- Physical Requirements You must be able to perform the essential duties of this position with or without reasonable accommodations. This includes the ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, remain clinically active for extended periods, and respond quickly alongside the team during urgent clinical situations.
The Perks & Pay
- Salary $95,000 to $115,000 base pay, offering profound purchasing power in the highly affordable Rio Grande Valley.
- On Site Staff & Relocation Housing Relocating to the Valley? We provide on site transition housing to give you a comfortable place to land while you look for a permanent home. We also use this housing for our on call shifts, so you never have to drive home exhausted after a 3 AM birth.
- Loan Forgiveness We are an approved HRSA site. This means you can apply for substantial, tax free student loan repayment through the National Health Service Corps.
- Coverage Your malpractice insurance is 100% covered by the clinic.
- Time Off A generous PTO policy because executive burnout is real, and we actually want you to rest.
- Continuing Ed An annual stipend for your CEUs to keep your APRN active.
