Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and student-centered Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)-prepared Registered Nurse to serve as faculty in the Vocational Nursing Program. Faculty members are responsible for providing high-quality classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical instruction while fostering student success and preparing graduates to safely practice as entry-level Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs).

The MSN Faculty promotes critical thinking, clinical judgment, professionalism, and lifelong learning through evidence-based teaching strategies aligned with the Texas Board of Nursing, NCLEX-PN Test Plan, ATI standards, and DSHCP's mission of excellence.

Responsibilities

Teach assigned didactic, laboratory, simulation, and clinical courses within the Vocational Nursing Program.
Develop and deliver engaging, evidence-based lectures utilizing active learning strategies.
Prepare students for the NCLEX-PN by integrating clinical judgment, Next Generation NCLEX (NGN), and ATI learning resources.
Facilitate simulation experiences using current simulation standards and structured debriefing techniques.
Supervise students during laboratory skills and clinical rotations while maintaining patient safety.
Evaluate student knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors using established rubrics and competency standards.
Curriculum Development
Participate in curriculum planning, revision, and continuous improvement.

Student Success

Provide academic advising and mentorship to assigned students.
Identify at-risk students and collaborate with Student Services to develop individualized success plans.
Hold regular office hours for tutoring, remediation, and student support.
Encourage professionalism, accountability, and ethical nursing practice.

Assessment and Evaluation

Create and administer examinations using Bloom's Taxonomy and Next Generation NCLEX principles.
Evaluate assignments, clinical performance, simulations, medication administration competencies, and laboratory skills.
Provide timely, constructive feedback to students.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, competencies, and clinical evaluations.
Ensure course objectives align with the Texas Board of Nursing Differentiated Essential Competencies (DECs), NCLEX-PN Test Plan, and program outcomes.
Develop lesson plans, examinations, study guides, case studies, simulation scenarios, and remediation activities.
Utilize ATI resources and data to improve student learning outcomes.

Qualifications

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a valid nursing license; additional certifications in teaching or healthcare education preferred.
Proven experience working with post-secondary students in higher education settings or college faculty roles.
Supervising experience in clinical or classroom environments is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, learning technology, teaching simulation methods, and educational compliance regulations.
Experience with LMS platforms like Blackboard or similar systems for online instruction delivery.
Background in nursing practice areas such as acute care, ICU, pediatrics, primary care, or senior care; hospital experience is advantageous.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and foster inclusive learning environments.
Familiarity with curriculum design and development processes within healthcare education programs.
Excellent communication skills paired with a passion for teaching adult learners in a healthcare setting.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
