InGenesis is currently seeking a Geological Subsurface Modeler to work with our client. In this role, you will compile, organize, and validate subsurface datasets to build geologic frameworks and rock property models that represent reservoir heterogeneity, support volumetric calculations, and provide technically sound models for analytical use and evaluation by the Natural Resources team.
Essential Functions:
- Compile University Lands subsurface data into Petrel projects, including well data, directional surveys, formation tops, fault interpretations, mudlogs, and other geologic inputs as needed.
- Build integrated 3D static geological models for up to six acreage areas using Petrel.
- Construct subsurface rock property frameworks that reflect reservoir architecture, stratigraphic relationships, structural interpretation, and reservoir heterogeneity.
- Quality check input datasets and model outputs for consistency, completeness, and technical defensibility. Integrate geologic interpretations, well control, and supporting subsurface data into project-ready Petrel models.
- Prepare finalized Petrel model deliverables that support volumetric calculations, analytical workflows, and technical evaluation by the Natural Resources Development team.
- Document modeling assumptions, data sources, workflows, and limitations to support repeatability and future model updates.
- Collaborate with geologists, engineers, data analysts, and Natural Resources leadership to ensure model outputs meet business and technical needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support subsurface evaluation, reservoir characterization, and asset analysis.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geoscience, Geological Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience using Petrel or comparable subsurface interpretation and geologic modeling software.
- Demonstrated understanding of subsurface data integration, stratigraphic interpretation, structural interpretation, and reservoir characterization.
- Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Geology, Geoscience, Geological Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience building static geologic models for unconventional or conventional reservoirs.
- Familiarity with Permian Basin stratigraphy, reservoir architecture, well data management, formation tops, directional surveys, mudlog interpretation, fault interpretation, and volumetric support workflows.
- Experience delivering Petrel models for technical evaluation, reserves analysis, or asset development planning.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office environment.
- Uses personal computer and other standard office equipment.
- Requires occasional evening or weekend hours.
