PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Direct and manage assigned areas of the instructional program and campus operations. Oversee assigned student activities and services, and support the Principal in maintaining a safe, orderly, and inclusive campus culture built on strong social-emotional practices and restorative approaches to student discipline.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree
Texas Principal or other appropriate Texas certificate
Certified Texas Teacher Support and Evaluation System (T-TESS) appraiser
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of campus operations
Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to interpret data
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of and experience implementing social-emotional learning (SEL) practices campus-wide
Strong working knowledge of Special Education law and the ARD process; experience serving as a SPED/ARD facilitator preferred
Demonstrated ability to navigate and de-escalate interpersonal conflict among staff, students, and families
Restorative practices training preferred
Experience:
Two years’ experience teaching as a classroom teacher
Two years’ experience in instructional leadership roles (preferred)
Campus School Leadership experience (preferred)
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
School/Organizational Improvement
1. Take a leadership role in planning activities and implementing programs to ensure attainment of the school's mission.
2. Participate in development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members.
3. Assist the Principal to develop, maintain, and use information systems to maintain records and track progress on campus performance objectives and Academic Excellence Indicators.
Student Management & Discipline
1. Serve as campus behavioral coordinator in accordance with state laws and regulations.
2. Work with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system — grounded in restorative practices and social-emotional learning — that results in positive student behavior and enhances school climate.
3. Ensure that school rules are uniformly applied and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
4. Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers, serving as a calm, skilled facilitator when interpersonal conflict arises.
5. Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.
6. Serve as the campus Special Education (SPED)/ARD Facilitator: lead and participate in ARD Committee meetings, ensure compliance with IDEA and state/district special education procedures, and support staff in implementing IEP accommodations and behavior intervention plans.
Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management
1. Oversee campus operations in the Principal's absence.
2. Assume leadership for planning and scheduling of daily school activities, including the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules.
3. Oversee reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with staff to identify and address issues.
4. Work with department heads and faculty to compile annual budget requests based on documented program needs.
5. Requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment and monitor and maintain inventory in accordance with district procedures.
6. Coordinate operational support services such as transportation, custodial, and cafeteria to best meet campus needs.
7. Comply with district policies, state and federal laws, and regulations affecting schools.
Personnel Management
1. Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences. Serve as second appraiser as needed for the designated teacher appraisal system.
2. Assist the Principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.
3. Confer with campus personnel regarding their professional growth. Work with them to develop and accomplish improvement goals.

Monitor virtual classroom environments to ensure learning and appropriate physical, social, and emotional
development of students.
Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing during indicated work hours to confer with district
personnel, students, and/or parents. The rest of the workday is committed to planning, preparing,
implementing, and evaluating lessons and activities of campus employees
