Position Summary: The EMT Training Instructor will provide qualified training instructors to facilitate the Combat Medic Specialist Training (CMST) Course of Instruction. Deliver comprehensive education and hands-on training to initial entry Soldiers, preparing them to perform emergency lifesaving interventions at the point of injury and at Echelon I care levels. Training will focus on developing the skills required to resuscitate, stabilize, and manage casualties in both combat and training environments. Ensure Soldiers acquire the foundational knowledge, technical proficiency, and clinical competencies necessary to become effective Combat Medic Specialists capable of supporting battlefield medical operations.
Develop and keep current lesson plans with handbooks, study guides, and tests. Design, prepare, and keep other instructional aids including flip charts, view graphs, slides, etc. current. Utilize up-to-date knowledge of advanced medical subjects (standards of care) and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) processes, practices, procedures that are pertinent and applied during instruction. Use the most suitable and effective method of training, i.e., lectures, performance demonstration or discussions, as prescribed by the lesson plan or material presented to achieve desired lesson objectives or outcomes. Follow and apply the Student Evaluation/Administration Plan to ensure processes are applied fairly to students during all course phases. Prepare records and provide student grade input for inclusion in student training records.
Assist in the development of instructional courses for 68W and EMT training courses to include writing, revising and/or proofreading lesson plans that typically deal with EMT, trauma treatment using the tenants of tactical combat casualty care, limited primary care, medical evacuation, force protection, CBRN, trauma scenario development and warrior skills. Develop course plans/outlines, produce or locate appropriate hand-out material, communicate the objectives of the course material, and ensure courses are evaluated upon completion.
All Licensure/certification fees, as well as completion of mandatory continuing education units (CEUs) required for re-licensure/recertification, will be reimbursed.
Employees will be required to sign the DD2982, Recruiter/Trainer Prohibited Activities Acknowledgement form prior to performing any work.
Duties and responsibilities
· Provide training, support, assistance, documentation, and advice for the efficient and effective instruction of students in the METC Courses. Utilize course and class materials, to include lesson plans, Power Point Slides (PPS), Student Evaluation and Administration Plans (SEAP), Course of Instructions (COI) developed by METC’s Curriculum Development staff.
· Ensure all students course materials; general references and examinations are clearly written, technically and didactically correct and revised sufficiently to maintain state of the art instruction as directed by the course Curriculum Development staff. Provide recommendation to update course and class materials as appropriate.
· Provide students with clear course objectives and classroom expectations; ensure that course content and objectives are met.
· Utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate the diverse learning styles of students.
· Respond to student questions and inquiries in a timely manner and document concerns and forward to the Course Director or designee for action.
· Provide guidance and academic support to students.
· Maintain accurate attendance records and call on or follow-up with absent students.
· Conduct examination reviews, administer examinations as scheduled and proctor to ensure testing integrity.
· Conduct scheduled and unscheduled remedial training as needed to assist students with course material.
· Actively work to maintain student retention within the course by identifying at-risk students and provide tutoring and course plans to help them succeed.
· Able to increase student learning through development of a relevant progressive curriculum, design effective learning strategies and environments, delivering high quality instruction, advising students, and participating in teaching scanning labs.
· When directed, input student grades and academic counseling forms into course records and students’ master training records.
· Coordinate with other instructors to determine class schedules. Final decisions and determinations are reserved for the METC Designated Government Representative.
· Provide End of Course (EOC) feedback that shall be utilized for course improvement.
· Comply with all institutional, accrediting and regulatory agency policies and procedures.
· Attend and participate in training and meetings, as directed by the Course Directors.
· Competencies and tasks of the position shall be met consistently with the educational principles of METC, which focus on meeting the learning needs of students.
Education and Experience
· A minimum of five (5) years’ experience is required in the field as an Emergency Medical Technician.
· Must possess and maintain an active EMT / Paramedic Licensure and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Possess excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills and be· capable of learning and utilizing current and emerging military and commercial technology.
· Knowledge of instructional techniques and training methodologies to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise training courses.
· Experience utilizing a variety of instructional technologies, training equipment, and teaching methods to incorporate the principles of adult learning into teaching practices.
· Basic knowledge of computer equipment and the assigned area of system software.
· Demonstrate proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
· Knowledge of DoW, and major command directives, concepts, procedures, guidance, and policy as they relate to the area of responsibility.
Training Requirements: MEDCoE initial and annual training requirements, and comply with all MEDCoE policies, procedures, productivity standards, and instructions as provided.
Supervisory Responsibility: None
Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of standing shall be required while conducting lectures, facilitating and hands-on instruction.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
