READ THIS BEFORE YOU APPLY
This is a straight-talk job posting because we want straight-talk candidates. We move steel every single day. The machines need to keep moving for us to make money and we need a person who understands that — someone who shows up ready, keeps the yard running, and takes ownership of their role without being told twice.
If you want a comfortable 40-hour week with automatic raises and a manager who checks on you, this is not your job. If you want to earn real money, prove your value, and grow inside a company that is scaling fast — keep reading.
WHAT A REAL WEEK LOOKS LIKE
Monday through Friday, 12-hour days. Rotating Saturdays. All hours over 40 are paid at overtime. This is not a 40-hour-a-week job and we are not going to pretend it is. The yard moves every day and we need someone who moves with it. If you are the kind of person who gets restless when there is nothing to do, you will never have that problem here.
WEEKLY PERFORMANCE BONUS — PAID EVERY WEDNESDAY
We pay weekly. We bonus weekly. The bonus is $100 — earned as a whole, not in pieces.
To earn it, you must hit all three of the following every single week:
✓ Zero load or shipping errors — every load verified, every bundle ID documented, zero mistakes
✓ All inventory completed on time — all incoming material received, tagged, and entered by Friday EOD
✓ Perfect attendance and punctuality — on time, every day, zero unexcused absences or late arrivals
Miss on any one of the three and the bonus does not pay out that week. No partial credit. No exceptions. No conversations. Come back and earn it the following week.
Show up, do the job right, keep your machine moving — and every Wednesday that $100 is yours. Over a full year that is $5,200 on top of your base pay and overtime earnings.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS — BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF
You will mount and dismount heavy equipment many times per shift in an outdoor steel yard in all weather conditions — heat, cold, rain. You will be on your feet and moving for a full 12-hour day. We need someone built for that pace every single day, not someone who can handle it occasionally. If this sounds like a normal day to you, great. If not, this role is not the right fit — and that is okay.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN EVERY DAY
Yard & Inventory
- Receive, tag, verify, and enter all incoming material into the system — no later than end of day Friday, every week
- Maintain accurate inventory locations and correct any discrepancy the moment you find it
- Keep the yard fully organized, clearly labeled, and in safe working order at all times
- Ensure zero mixing of material grades or categories — everything in its place, every time
- Stage all processed material within 48 hours of system entry
- Maintain clear staging lanes and traffic paths for trucks and equipment at all times
Loading & Unloading
- Operate telehandler and wheel loader for all inbound and outbound truck loading and unloading
- Verify correct material, quantities, and staging locations on every single load
- Accurately document all bundle IDs when loading and staging
- Stage all pre-ordered outbound loads the same day the work order is received — no exceptions
Machine Ownership — This Is Your Equipment, Treat It That Way
- Complete a thorough pre-shift inspection on your machine every single day before operation begins
- Grease all required fittings on the correct schedule — you know when it is due, you do not wait to be reminded
- Fuel the machine at the end of each shift so it is ready to go the next morning — no one else does this for you
- Identify and immediately report any mechanical issues, fluid leaks, warning lights, or safety concerns
- Keep the machine clean and in the same condition you would want to find it — every day, no exceptions
HARD REQUIREMENTS — NO EXCEPTIONS
- 500+ documented hours on a telehandler or wheel loader (not just general forklift experience)
- Experience loading and unloading flatbed or commercial trucks with a telehandler or wheel loader
- Comfortable performing daily machine inspections, greasing, and fueling — no hand-holding required
- Reliable transportation and a proven track record of showing up on time, every day
- Comfortable with an iPad and inventory scanner — picks up technology quickly
- Background in shipping & receiving, yard operations, or inventory management
- Able to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
- Able to pass a background check and maintain a drug-free workplace
WHO THRIVES HERE
- You treat the yard like it is yours — because in this role, it is
- You treat your machine the same way — with ownership, pride, and daily attention
- You notice when something is wrong and fix it before anyone has to ask
- You double-check your own work because you take pride in being right
- You learn systems and technology quickly because you pay attention
- You show up on time, ready to work, every single day
- You do not wait to be told what needs to be done — you see it and handle it
GROWTH & ADVANCEMENT
We are a fast-growing company and we are aggressively reinvesting in our team and equipment. We do not hand out raises on a calendar. We reward value — period. Come in, show us what you bring to DPS, and you will be compensated and promoted accordingly. This is an investment in your career, not just a job.
