Full Job Description

Overview:
I Scream Gelato is hiring for our Plano location! We are seeking motivated, hard-working individuals to join our team in one of two specialized capacities: Gelato Chef (Back-of-House) or Gelato Server (Front-of-House). Depending on your background, we will place you in the role that best fits your skill set.

Location: 5880 State Highway 121, Suite 102A, Plano, Texas 75024 (The Boardwalk at Granite Park)

Role Option 1: Gelato Chef (Production Focus)

Primary Duty: Operate specialized gelato-making machinery to produce fresh, high-quality gelato and pancake/waffle mixes.
Quality Control: Follow precise recipes and monitor equipment temperatures to ensure consistent taste and texture.
Organization: Maintain a clean, organized production area and manage back-of-house inventory.
Qualifications: Prior experience as a restaurant chef or in gelato/ice cream production is strongly preferred.
Skills: Strong attention to detail and familiarity with gelato decorating techniques is a plus.

Role Option 2: Gelato Server (Hospitality Focus)

Primary Duty: Provide a premium guest experience by scooping gelato and preparing specialty coffees and desserts.
Sales: Process guest transactions at the register and handle payments accurately via the POS system.
Cleanliness: Maintain the storefront’s cleanliness and follow all sanitation guidelines.
Qualifications: Prior experience in a fast-casual or scoop shop environment is highly desirable.
Skills: Excellent communication, a friendly personality, and the ability to thrive during a busy "rush."

General Requirements (Both Roles):

Age: Must be 18 years of age or older.
Experience: 1+ years in the food service industry (café, bakery, or specialty dessert shop preferred).
Certification: Valid Food Handler’s Certificate required.
Physical: Ability to stand for significant periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Math Skills: Sufficient to complete paperwork, comprehend recipes, and adjust measurements as needed.

Compensation & Tips:
The base hourly rate does not include tips. Serving tips typically add an additional $3–$4 per hour to your take-home pay (notably on weekends). Chef position does not have tips, but starts at $13/hour.
