Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for assessing, treating, and monitoring patients with respiratory conditions, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective respiratory care in accordance with established protocols, under supervision of a physician and by prescription. Full-time, 36Hr / Fri-Sun 12hours 0700-1930.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments to determine patient needs and develop appropriate treatment plans.
Administer respiratory therapies such as oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilation, and aerosol treatments with precision and care.
Monitor patient responses to treatments, adjusting interventions as necessary to optimize outcomes.
Collaborate closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans.
Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions, treatment procedures, and preventive measures.
Maintain accurate documentation of all procedures, treatments, and patient progress in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Ensure the proper operation and maintenance of respiratory equipment while adhering to safety standards.

Skills

Supports hospital mission and strategic vision; manages hospital resources appropriately; complies with hospital policies and programs; maintains skill levels, licenses, and certifications; complies with all state and federal compliance and HIPAA requirements; keeps lines of communication open between self and other hospital personnel; competent with computer programs.

Job Functions

1. Sets up and operates devices such as respirators, mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, humidity and aerosol generators, airway clearance systems, and diagnostic testing equipment, including arterial blood gas machines, pulmonary function study machines, exercise treadmills, Holter monitors, electrocardiographs, and pulse oximeters.

2. Observes equipment gauges to ensure specified volumes, rates, pressures, temperatures, flows, and percentages specified.

3. Performs Broncho pulmonary drainage and assists patient in performing breathing exercises.

4. Monitors patient’s physiological responses to therapy and testing as well as equipment function.

5. Consults with physician in even of adverse reactions and follows orders for all phases of patient’s treatment.

6. Maintains patient’s chart to contain patient assessment and therapy information and uses good record-keeping skills.

7. Inspects and tests respiratory therapy equipment, its indications, contraindications, and physiological effect.

8. Repairs or orders repairs on equipment when needed.

9. May demonstrate respiratory care procedures to trainees and other health care personnel.

10. May assist in stabilization and transport of ALS patients.
