We are looking for a compassionate, dependable Behavioral Health Technician / Medication
Technician who shares our Christian faith and mission and who is called to walk alongside clients during a critical season of healing.
We offer two scheduling options — pick the one that fits your life:
Option A (Full Weekend): Every Saturday and every Sunday, 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM.
Option B (Split Sunday): Every Saturday, 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM. Sundays alternate: one
Sunday 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM, the next Sunday 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM (a shorter evening-only shift every other Sunday).
Reliable weekend availability is essential — this is a critical coverage role for our clients and program.
This is a hybrid role combining direct client care with support for the safe, accurate, and organized operation of the medical department. You'll coordinate medication-related tasks, maintain required documentation, communicate with pharmacies and providers, and assist clients with medications within your training, authorization, and facility policies — while also serving as a steady, caring presence for clients throughout the weekend.
What You'll Do
- Provide attentive supervision and support of clients throughout your shift
- Assist clients through daily programming, meals, breaks, and structured activities
- Model healthy relational patterns, calm boundaries, and Christ-like patience
- Encourage engagement in group activities, recovery skills, and devotional time
- Support clients in devotional time, Sabbath observance, and worship as scheduled
- Reinforce program structure and community expectations with grace and consistency
- Pray with and for clients when appropriate and welcomed
- Complete morning and other assigned medication passes accurately and on time
- Follow medication orders and verify the correct client, medication, dose, route, and time
- Ensure each client receives the correct prescribed medications in their medication dispenser
- Confirm that every client prescribed medication has an assigned and properly labeled dispenser
- Observe clients for medication concerns or adverse reactions and report them promptly
- Document medication refusals, missed doses, errors, and other concerns according to policy
- Maintain client privacy and follow HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 requirements
- Maintain accurate and current MAR and PRN MAR records
- Update medication records when orders are started, changed, discontinued, or placed on hold
- Ensure PRN medications include appropriate instructions and required follow-up documentation
- Review medication records for missing signatures, incorrect entries, or discrepancies
- Complete documentation immediately after medication assistance or administration
- Prepare medication paperwork needed for admissions, appointments, transfers, and discharges
- Contact CVS or other assigned pharmacies to request medication refills
- Confirm whether prescriptions have been received and are ready for pickup

- Notify the appropriate provider or supervisor about expired prescriptions, missing orders,
- refill delays, or prior-authorization concerns
- Coordinate medication pickup and verify received medications against current orders
- Print and maintain medication education forms for every client's prescribed medications
- Ensure education forms are available when medications are started or changed
- Maintain an adequate supply of approved over-the-counter medications
- Monitor medication and medical supply inventory and request replacements before supplies run out
- Check medication expiration dates and properly remove expired or discontinued medications according to policy
- Ensure water and necessary supplies are always available in the medical building
- Keep the medication area clean, secure, organized, and ready for use
- Ensure medications are stored and labeled appropriately
- Maintain medication dispensers, records, forms, and supplies in their designated locations
- Protect medications and confidential records from unauthorized access
- Follow all safety, medication-room access, and key-control protocols
- Complete client checks, sign-ins/sign-outs, and environmental rounds on schedule
- De-escalate agitation and respond appropriately to behavioral or medical concerns
- Communicate medication updates, pharmacy concerns, appointments, incidents, and incomplete tasks clearly during shift handoff
- Work with clinical, patient services, providers, and leadership to keep medical operations running smoothly
- Complete additional medical-support and client-care duties assigned by the supervisor

What We're Looking For
Experience & Skills
- Prior experience as a BHT, Med Tech, CNA, MA, mental health tech, direct-care worker, ministry leader, chaplain, or in a similar caregiving role (preferred)
- Familiarity with MAR/PRN MAR documentation, medication passes, and pharmacy coordination strongly preferred
- Comfort working with adults navigating mental health and substance use challenges
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational habits
- Ability to remain calm and grounded in stressful or emotionally charged situations
- Basic computer literacy for EMR and MAR documentation
Requirements
- 21 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent (associate's or bachelor's in a related field a plus)
- Valid Florida driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to pass a Level 2 background check and drug screen
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- Medication Technician certification / MAR training a plus (or willingness to complete
- Sanctuary's medication training)
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and respond quickly for the full shift
